Hey folks!
Holy Comforter is a church in Ormewood Park in Atlanta that has a unique congregation - most of us are considered by others to be disabled in some way. Many of us can not work at traditional jobs. We got bored, so we started the Friendship Center - those of us in the congregation who can, volunteer to run it.
One aspect of our Friendship Center is the Seedtime & Harvest greenhouse were 10 people garden for therapy, companionship and for job training. We grow plants for our gardens, our food...and for you!
Sat. Sept. 13th will be our first sale of Fall. We have organic vegetables and herbs, plus loads of shade perennials, many succulents, a gorgeous display of small begonias for houseplants (and many more house plants), lots of aloe, some sunny garden plants and plenty of inexpensive Southern Magnolias.
10-2 pm and we also have delicious, fresh, Mennonite style baking for sale.
Sat. Sept. 20th 10 am - the afternoon sometime...come and see us at the East Atlanta Strut! Our community struts it's stuff with a huge inner city street fair featuring our local artists & performers. Run the early morning 5K (or walk it, like I do) and help raise money for our fantastic community outreach grants to be awarded later in the day. Enjoy 3 stages of music, a crazy parade (where I will be the Queen of Seeds!) - and all the beer you can tuck away. Holy Comforter's Seedtime folks will be there with our plants in the community area across from Ace Village Hardware! Strut is on Glenwood and Flat Shoals, so plan to turn from Moreland onto Portland Ave and find parking in the community on side streets.
Sat. Oct. 11th we are having another plant sale as above, however it is in conjunction with our annual Blessing of the Animals. So if you want to bring your fur babies, plan to come from 11-1 while we bless the pets and then sell you plants! Of course your pets are welcome as always into the plant sales area. Plant sale is 10-2pm
Please fee free to ask any questions. All of the monies raised at these events are for 501's - charitable contributions.
