My Uncle gave me some of my Grandmothers old hyacint bulbs, and as I haven't ever tried growing them, I didn't know what to do with them.
I vaguely remember them growing in front of the porch, and smelling the wonderful fragrance...isn't it strange how a scent can bring back memories?
I remember rocking on the front porch with her in the evenings, and smelling all of the wonderful flowers that she planted with a loving hand. Maybe that's where I get my love of plants...from her.
Now maybe I can bring back a piece of her, with these bulbs, now that I know what to do with them.
That's a lovely memory. I agree scent is a powerful memory association thing. Hope the hyacinths do well for you. You know you can plant them in ground too.
I've passed thru Bristol on the way to my sister's in Florida- lovely town. We only stayed long enough for snowballs to break up the long drive tho.
Thanks for reading and sharing!
