Greetings all! I'm new and need some creative minds to assist me in ideas for covering over old aucostic ceiling tiles. They are throughout this 4 bedroom house with and without the metal grids. UGH! UGLY!!! I have read the archives about Brown Bagging walls and even spoken directly with Bonnye - the brown bag queen. She has done some outstanding works with the little brown bag... as has Wuvie!!!! Has anybody used other types of paper/patterns for brown bagging? Thanks, Yvonne

Oh my gosh, Yvonne, I'm so sorry I missed your thread!

I just so happen to be delving back into the papering world (fall approaches)
and would love to travel this journey together!

I'm doing the floors, you're doing the walls. Oughtta be very fun!

National Geographic maps, I love the idea! I have some map wallpaper
that I have tossed around, hoping to use on the doors in the hallway.

Hope to hear from you, can't wait to see your project!

Greetings Karen and Sally! Thanks for quick reply. My husband is becoming the greatest obstacle. He thinks that the Nat. Geo maps may actually have some antique value. More importantly, he thinks that the Brown Bag ceiling will look like " water damage " due to the patterened lines it leaves. Sooo I was thinking that perhaps I could just photocopy the maps into a much larger size, do a " test " before I decide to try and convince him that this is the solution to our ughhhly ceilings. Also, I'm thinking of antiquing them, so what would be safe to use? A diluted light colored wood stain brushed/rolled on first before the pieces are torn? What do you think it would look like if I just tear the edges in a ragged pattern, crumble paper and actually leave the maps the enlarged photocopied size? In other words, can the individual pieces be larger than 12 - 15 inces? The ceiling will need lining paper due to the raised metal grid system. I was really fortunate to get 30 rolls of " Butt end " printing paper FOR FREE! The next question - do I use the Draw-Tite on the acoustic tiles first to seal the porous surface? After it is dry do I then use the GH paste on top of DT then apply lining paper? Then repeat the same process with each succesive layer of lining paper. I expect that I will 2-4 layers to cover the metal grid. After the lining paper is complete - What is the process for using the final cover of maps? Too many questions... Thanks, Yvonne
