Thank you Geoff and thank goodness I don't live in FL anymore. I would see all those "palms" and feel the need to correct the world with my newfound knowledge:) I wonder why they are all called palms though?

Makes perfect sense to me to know the correct name just to keep them alive with proper care!

Oh, but they are all so beautiful! Thanks for all the info--I used to have a ponytail "palm", and have been wanting another. Now I know how to care for them (and how NOT to), thanks!
So 'not a palm' isn't like 'notocactus', huh? lol
