I have an apparently healthy Queen of the Night (she has 8 buds right now), which grew three very long stalks last year. The stalks have very few leaves, but one of those leaves has a bud. These stalks are so long that they're in the way, and I'm wondering if it would make any difference to the plant if I were to cut them off.
