We have purchased an engineered wood floor and will probably do it ourselves. Cost is the main factor. We have over 700 sq. feet to lay. Has anyone done this themselves, and what kind of a stapler and or nailer did you use. They are $50 a day to rent or over $200 to buy. It would probably be chaeaper to buy one, as it will take us several days to lay the floor . Any info would be greatly appreciated.
DH and DS put in bamboo flooring here. Since they did it over a long period of time, DH bought a nailer on ebay. He did borrow a portable air compressor from a friend. He has one in the workshop, but would have needed miles of hose. So far they have done family room, dining room and master bedroom. Hardest parts were closets and small hallway - lots of cutting and piecing. The have the 2 other bedrooms to do. It is over plywood, so he just cleaned it after carpet removal and put down roofing felt. Quite a project but it looks great and we love it.
I searched a couple of sites to help me install my own tile flooring and found a pretty good one. It provided a guide for installing different types of flooring including wood. Here's a link to installing your hardwood floors: http://www.findanyfloor.com/InstallationGuides/InstallingHar...
