Greetings, Todd. I was most interested in your article about flowering bulbs. For the second year in a row my chives (planted in my herb garden for kitchen use) have burst forth with great abandon with fragrant drifts of white flowers! Last fall I did not clip them back and lo, lots more chives this year. Now I have begun to worry about whether I will be overwhelmed with too many chives. Would you consider these lovely things "invasive?" I have enjoyed them, and would transplant the whole bunch to my woods if I did not worry that it would be a nuisance eventually. Any thoughts?

The chives greenery has grown quite robust, and is not the tender stuff I would use for cooking. Seems to have less taste, too.

Thanks for your great info. Susan (zone 6 -- South Jersey USA

Chives can self-seed with abandon..not sure if they would be necessarily 'invasive'..could they displace native vegetation? maybe, but I expect not.
