Sue please post your Eupatorium on this thread as it's a waste as the last post on the last thread. Yhat is one lovely plant/shrub, I couldn't decide which it is. Nice match for your tibouchina too.. I must get my cutting grown old fashioned one into the garden it is in the smallest pot (to save space) and yet it still managed to flower. It probably feels like a bonsai as the cutting came off a 16+ tree that I also grew from a cutting many years ago. Well I must away, have to go and do something about my outfit for the 21st next week, at least Iv'e got some more family members willing to participate now :-))

and this is a 'volunteer' pansy...
I had none in the garden when I moved in until I cleared a mass of Lily of the Valley.
Once the garden was dug over up came the pansies.
I transplanted them all over & have some stunners come up each year.
Some are convinced they are perennials & winter over quite nicely.
As long as I keep dead heading they keep flowering.
Seems a good bargain to me:)

I also noticed my 'baby' Camellia is flowering - I have been watching the buds get fatter by the day.
This has real sentimental meaning to me, my dally Chita won it in her best ever show performance 10 years ago.
It was in a pot for a couple of years which made it easy to bring with me when I shifted in here.
I thought I was going to lose it - the first place it had in the garden just didn't agree with it.
During a transplant to a better location the root system snapped off.
I replanted the roots & stump and decided to try & grow the top as a cutting...
that took - the root system didn't survive.
So these are the first flowers for about 7 years.
I couldn't even remember what they looked like!
Cheers - Dalfyre

Hello all. I just had to put this gorgeous girl up for all to see. She is in fact, a lot blacker than the camera shows. I was given a large clump that has been growing all alone in a paddock for years. Must have been a house there once.
There are 2 more flowers to come out yet. It would be a Zantedaschia as far as i know. I have been reading up on them as I was told that my 'Green Goddess' is not an Arum but a Zantedeschia. I read that what we call Callas and Arums are really types of Zantedeschias not true Callas or Arums. We learn every day.

Hullo Ladies, I've had visitors so no galloping around the world. Sue your tillansia has a very tall flower, not bad eh 2spikes on a small plant. 2 of mine have buds so shouldn't be too long coming out. The perfume from the A dends. is almost overpowering with all this lovely weather we have been having. There is something new opening everyday, it's quite exciting as I forget what I have until I see them flowering and then I know why they are there, lol, I couldn't say no, does that sound about right.
I found my pink arum, here I was looking in thye garden and it hadn't even got there, it was just starting to come up in it's pot. Perhaps if I plant it, it may flower. It has both names on the tag Arum and Zantand etc Your black one is wow, I knew I should have ordered one so next year. Chrissy the wisteria is very impressive, they really are worth waiting for. I will so enjoy the dozen ot so flowers on my fence, now I'm glad I didn't chop it out. The blue flowers are much prettier than the other blue ornaments:-)
The word here at the moment is that we may be in for a summer drought so hope there are no severe shortages of water, and the peach tree is still coming down. I've still got a few more D/L's to plant so had better get on to them tomorrow. The planting is fine it's the bending thats the problem, lol. Finally managed to take a few photos so hope they are clear, gee my sight is bad I find I can't tell if it's me or the photo. Lesley

I work with a lovely lady that does floral art, she did the church flowers, decorated the pews & created table centres for the reception when I was married.
All as a wedding gift too.
You can catch a glimpse of them in the background but I wish I had asked that someone take individual pix of each arrangement.
Anyway yesterday I got to work & she had brought in trilliums from her garden.
I have never seen them in real life:)
They are wonderful!
Stunning to look at & the scent...
well whenever I could sneak away from the bar I was into the office to breathe it in.
I had an idea I wanted to try growing them here - now I am determined to make a home for some.
May take a while to create the right space but it will be worth it!
I just wish I had taken my camera to work so I could share their beauty with you all...
cheers - Dalfyre

Lesser Celandine?
Grape hyacinth & the hydrangea I tried to murder last year...
one day it will come out of that spot, too close to the edge & driveway -
there is another behind it that can stay.
And I took a cutting that is doing really well toward the woodland corner.
I fed it acid fertiliser & the parent got the ash from the wood burner...
if they don't have different coloured flowers I will be annoyed;)
You can just make out the sweet peas I transplanted a couple of weeks ago.
They seem to be over the shock & are on their way up the chicken wire I attached to the fence for them.
I invested in a pack of seeds - they germinated well & have made steady progress over winter.

This is the flower on a Pitcher plant. It started off as a ball, then the petals unfurled, and then the bottom expended and under the petals is the doorway fro the insects to get into the flower. You can't actually see into the flower though! I think it's lovely. It is in the boat pond and has been going for 3 days now.

Peruvian Lily - or Cuban Lily - Scilla Peruviana,
The original came from my Mum's garden, it seems to like it here.
I had to split up the clump last year & have one in a shady spot to see if it makes any difference.
That clump is looking healthy but a bit slower to put up flowers.
Not sure if that is due to the position or the move...
time will tell.

Thanks Jean ...hubby called me away to drive into town before I was finished ...look at this one ...said to be the most loved Angel fragrance ...just about to open ...this one is called Brugmansia Arborea ...said to smell of vanilla and mandarine ...nick named honey sweet overseas. It is very difficult to grow from cuttings but it self pollinates and sets seeds which are very easily grown (my first seeds ever grown out) ...sent by Alistair. It is just a small white so it is said, however blooms continue ...instead of flushing like the others ...also said to be rarely grown in home gardens.
Anyway here she is ...about to open ...

I have been in & out of the garden all day so far.
It was cool & misty to start but is hot now, not much wind either which is a nice change.
The weeds don't dare poke their heads up with me keeping so focused on them.
Now that I have it looking tidy I hope to keep it that way.
Spotted a plant just about to flower this morning & when I looked this afternoon it was open!
Fast worker...
not sure what it is, comes up from a bulb & is a really nice pink.
So many nameless plants here - as I learn I am trying to label them in an album for future reference.

Chrissy you have just solved the problem as to why my Hippi wont flower. It doesn't have a low neckline. I will repot it tomorrow and wait for next year.

When I look across the park out front there is a hillside covered in mauve flowers. I haven't a clue as to what they are. Earlier this year some kids set the hillside on fire and these have come up in the burn area. My camera doesn't do it justice but you get the general idea.

It is annoying isin't not knowing what things are, I will go around by the hill and see if there is a stray plant down by the road, I'm afraid I wont be climbing the hill though, lol. I'm not that desperate to find out.
Boot is that the paniculata? I know there are a few smaller types, they are one of my favourites and I used to have a paniculata many
years ago but I think a bad drought did it in so now I just enjoy it in the bush. That genista is quite a sight, lucky you.

How about my 5 headed orchid methusela. I don't think it could count as there are more yellow spots than lips. I think it is quite unique and haven't had one before on the orchids.

bat flowers?
sound interesting...
flowers look bat like? (I have seen pix of something like that)
or flowers attract bats?
NZ's only native land mammal - two species of bat.
love those clematis.
I have one coming up - but am a bit worried that it may be old man's beard.
Have to get someone to id it for me once it flowers.

Hi Hel, inundated again, and a bit worse than the last ones. Still, nothing too dramatic, and nothing lost that can't be replaced. I just hope the people in town are ok. I only got home an hour ago, so am not sure whats been going on. Bills not here, so don't know what else has been happening. The rain is still pouring, although apparently it was fine yesterday. i was away in Brissie so missed the worst. I don't think I'll be mowing any lawns this week!
Sue
