For years I saved pages from magazines that I liked and planned to try "someday" I thought that the box had been lost many moves ago but tonight I found a folder that had somehow survived. This project was published in 1977. I still think it is a nice one and may actually try it...someday... but in the meantime I thought some of you might like to give it a go.

and here are the instructions. The pages are old and discolored now ...but it is 31 years old so I guess that shouldn't surprise me any. So, what do you think? Anyone want to try making owls? If so I'd love to see pictures of yours...maybe that will motivate me not to wait another 30 years to try it myself!

I just love it! I think I will give it a try. I know just the place to put it! We don't use cans much(mostly fresh or frozen veggies)so will have to beg my neighbor for some. Oh I just remembered we do use alot of tomato sauce and paste...that is in cans! Thanks for sharing this!

That is very cool! I could have totally seen my grandfather doing that. He was such a crafty old guy!

Well, there were lots of recipes and a couple other craft things in the file. This first one I actually did as a kid and then with my daughter and grandaughter.

I am glad to have found this one. My mother loves kaleidoscopes and this will make a great gift for her if I dress it up a little on the pipe.

This one got a major workout back in the 70's. It was fun and easy and something I could afford to do.

I saw a tin man made from different sized cans at a local garden center. It was soooo cute! The main problem for me would be to make the cans look rusty. Aren't they mostly aluminum now?

twbmom,
No, only the drink cans are aluminum. The rest will rust just fine given time.
