No new stained glass since the 16th ? Then how about some pictures of older stuff. It doesn't spoil.

"Kites" was made for my Audiologist who is a big kite flier. Very simple lines and has a nice balance.

This is a design from my favorite artist/architect/designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh. It fills the window in front of my shower stall.

I always enjoy seeing your art work; you are really wonderful.
I've been in the thick of things w/the remodel of our kitchen and dining room. My husband and I are doing almost everything ourselves (except cabinet making); I've been elected to run the wiring though the attic and also have spent a great deal of time in the crawl-space of the house reinforcing to the flooring.
Saturday I made a quick lamp shade for a friend that had a base.
I'm going to be doing dining room cabinet doors in a couple months when we get finished w/the kitchen.

Gee Sac, you get to do all those fun things, I'm envious. lol Just think how great it will be to have a new kitchen and dining room.
I think kitchens are the best room in the house and if we could afford it, I'd build a great kitchen on some acreage and put a house around it.

That's a cool lamp, you do really nice shades. I'm signed up for a three month Tiffany Lampshade class starting in January. It will be a first attempt at shade making, something I've wanted to do for a long time.

What do you have in mind for your cabinet doors ? That really makes cabinetry pop.

Beautiful windows balvenie, weclome back and am so happy to see you recuperating.. I just read some of your escapades in the CA forum...,

this will be my first window ever..16"x20" when completed.. I just started classes a couple of weeks ago and am looking forward to making windows for our home. You all are, and have been my inspiration..

I am hoping to take advanced glasses to work with the metal framing, this particular instructor doesn't teach that.. I am not sure if they will hold up with just wood framing. My class tomorrow, I should be soldering some here.

PS. this photo doesn't show it, but, after this I used copper foil with black lining for patina later. So it is ready for solder after tweaking several areas..

Looking at the photos I see I need to add a skirt to the lamp.
The doors are most likely going to be a mix of bevels and textured clears; when we decide on the color of granite I'll add some color to the design. I bought the book; 300 cabinet door designs; so got lots of great ideas. Our home is mission style and antiques..so going from that prospective.
I'd love to take some classes. And as I say that I realize that the only reason I haven't is because I haven't looked into doing so! It'll be added to the "do-to list".
Today is sheetrock.

Gourd, thank you, isn't this the most wonderful art form? I think your colors are great, bold and eye catching.
And you're another person who thinks to take a class; what a great concept! I really must follow suit.

Thank you Sac,
All those darker colors are dark browns, rootbeer colors on the petals and then the leaves are really dark green, the ends blocks are a dark brown like cordoruy glass, it has been fun. I don't know what possessed me to make those flowers so big! Lots of the glass are scraps from a fellow DGer. She mailed me some and away I went..lol I hope to take a photo of it against the sun or a window to see the colors come thru, I am so anxious.

Gourd, 16X20 is a pretty big first try, but seeing all the other marvelous work you have done it seems reasonable. It is a nice bold design and will be stunning hanging in the sun. Wood framing is generally just fine and easy to replace if it deteriorates.

Sac, With bevels and textures it doesn't take a lot of bright color to stand out, just some light hues to add a bit more depth. Can't wait to see what you do.

Ima, Your beautiful tiles are installed and I think they are an absolute treasure. Thank you for allowing me to use them. I'll take some pictures before long

Thank you bal, ... I've been wanting to take classes for years and couldn't find anyone that taught it, until now... I've got to visit here more often, only thing is, I want to make everything I see and get into a lot more hobbies than I plan to.

Ima, I got several mosaics done and some were installed and some uninstalled, what a disaster with the this time, here is a link on the trash to treasure forum, I didn't know where to post the tile work.. I'm really happy with the tiles you sent also, I've got two boxes of marbled tile in the works for the kitchen... don't know when I'll have time though.

Gourd, your tiles are gorgeous. The process must have been very frustrating, and heartbreaking at times. Too bad you drew some less than desirable installers.

thank you balvenie, you give me too much credit, I appreciate that, it only makes me want to do more. Yes, it was so frustrating and then we come to find out that the dishwasher was tiled into its location, now we probably have to break those tiles to get a new dishwasher in... "Live and Learn"!!

Well, the window is into a frame and this is what it looks like. At first I didn't know if it would look okay or not... the colors really stand out when the light is at it's brightest.

Wow ! Talk about impact. Your bold design and choice of color and texture are outstanding. Great job.

What on earth goes through the minds (assuming they have one) of so-called 'professional tile setters' that they would box in a dishwasher ? On the other hand, there may possibly be enough leveling adjustment on the feet to allow it to be removed when the time comes.

Hey, Gourd----your window is spectacular!

re the dishwasher: we installed our new one just before doing our kitchen tile, and it's going to be a challenge to get it out if it has to come out before we do. But as Balvenie says, there is just enough adjustment in the feet to get it through the opening...hope that's also the case with yours! DH says on ours (Kitchenaid) the front feet screw up and down, and the back is on rollers that have 3 positions.

Thank you guys,

Besides working on your houses, guys & gals what is your next project?

This past week we installed a new door going to the backyard with a huge doggie door for our Goldens... for the last two years, they woke me up to let them out at night...

The door that was there has 10 small windows probably 12"x12" each...

This is what I'm thinking of doing with it. Since our Master bathroom has no door from the bedroom and there is no way of keeping anyone out of the bathroom/bath tub, I was thinking of making some SG windows and replacing the windows in that door. Then having someone (NOT ME) install the frame for the door and maybe another long window over the door (sideways) which I would then make a SG window for that also.

(JUST a dream so far), but I 've got the door and some glass, just don't know if it would look all that great.

We have a kitchenaide dishwasher stuck in there, I have not checked to see if there is room to get to the feet. When we moved here the previous owners took the water softener and we did not know that the dishwasher would get rust if we did not put one in, so we ruined it in a couple of months... we now have the watersoftener in, but don't know when we will get a new one. I do the dishes myself, so I don't miss it so far.

Well, the holidays are coming, aren't they? So there's going to be plenty to do IF my landscapers ever finish...LOL! They've been MIA for the past week (working on someone else's bigger project), but are back today to install a wee bit of sod and make progress on drip system for the courtyard. I'm having trouble projecting ANYTHING past getting this done. It's been a very exciting and challenging 2 months so far!

I'm working on more tiles for the facing of the hearth for the chiminea, which will be the "gen-x" design I posted-----somewhere on DG. I play on too many forums to keep track!

Gourd, I don't remember exactly how large the piece was, but my guess is about 12"X18" or thereabouts. I think your bathroom door idea is excellent. There are so many patterns of clear 'architectural' glass these days as well as the colors of Baroque that a "wall" of same color/style glass would be very nice.

Ima, Wishing you great success with the landscaping. Depending on contractors is always a chore. How dare they think someone else's job is more important than yours.

bal, I just wanted to picture the size in my mind..

As for the door, The glass you mentioned is exactly what I am looking for, I did find out that there is a place where I can get the clear/baroque glass sheets larger than the normal 12".. so, I may start going to these glass shops real soon here, I think they have 4 sheets for 100.00 but I may only need 2 sheets of the clear.

Ima, I hope they finish up soon for you. I know the feeling...

Gourd, I don't think I've seen a prouder rooster. Strutting his stuff!
thanks for the nice comment on my butterfly piece. For the flowers I cut one large shape and then recut from it the petals. that way the flower "flows" with the color of the glass...and saves glass.
