I have been reading everything that I find about the wandering jew plant and I have a plant that I am not sure what it is , I was told it is in the wandering jew family, but it does not look like the wandering jew that I have seen ,I was told it was a trailing purple heart plant ,but it is different from the other one that Ihave ,so maybe you can tell me what I have. thanks, patricia
I have also lived in Tennesse for over 14 years and I know what you mean about going home again I sure hope that I can go back to Tennesssee it's home.
That is indeed wandering jew. It is one of the less commonly found, the purple. It is similar to and often mistaken for a trailing purple heart plant. It is probably my favorite variety of wandering jew.
There is something about those mountains up there isn't there? I do miss it especially when the weather is hot and Hurricane season is this active.
I also have that type of wandering jew as a ground cover, which I received several tips from a neighbor and like you said just stick in ground and they grow. I've pulled out many and replanted in other areas too, but you do have to keep track of it. I am from Long Island, NY and always had this and other varities of wandering jew in hanging pots while living there. Have been in Florida about 7 yrs. and it's nice to have a few plants that make me feel more at home. Yes I do visit L.I. often as have 2 grown children there and a grandchild on the way.
