This palm has only been in our yard for two weeks now. As with all the other's, it immediately lost a frond after transplanting. The palm is all brown and I "helped" it come the rest of the way off the palm this afternoon. Underneath on the crown shaft (gosh, I think that's what it's called... I asked ya'll before and someone told me... hope I remembered right), it looked "mildewy". I took a damp papertowel and wiped the black off. Is this normal?? I can see some mildew looking stains on the section of crown shaft that is still mostly underneath a frond that's still on the tree too (and the frond is still snugly fitted to the tree). Here's a pic before I wiped off the black stuff...
