I'll have to put this recipe in a safe spot to keep. I usually have tons of green tomatoes this time of year but not this season. Went to pick some for a friend who wanted fried green tomatoes & found that they had all started to turn. But thanks for the great idea.

I've had a lot of fun with this recipe!

About the fried green tomatoes... I like to use breakers (with just a little color) to make them, so tomatoes that have just started to turn are perfect, I think!

I wonder if the tomatoes would have to be green? Would it work if they were red but still firm?

I think the tartness and the firmness of the green tomatoes are important.. I wouldn't try this with red tomatoes.
