My mother used to make jams using figs and jello. super good.

I'm glad you like the idea! I've had a lot of fun with this recipe too, as you can tell. :-)

My mom used to make freezer jam with rhubarb and strawberry jello. Figs would make great jam, too, but I've never had more fresh figs than I could just eat outright... maybe someday my little tree will grow bigger...

We are big into fried green tomatos. Never enough left to make anything else.

A neighbor has the fig tree/bush. My mother was our neighbor for the last 20 years of her life. No jam since she went on to glory.

It is pretty tasty and the kids won't know the difference! Now if someone could try a sugar free version for us older kids...

Bluekat, we've definitely got to experiment with that! I want to try adding some kool-aid powder to mine this year also (not with more sugar, just unsweetened powder) to see if that cuts the sweetness a little.
