I recently stumbled upon this website through a Craigslist posting and they offered what appears to be a viable option for replacing my HPS? I have heard a lot about LED Grow Lights not having the fruiting/ flowering light required, however they claim that by using multiple spectrums you are able to have good results. The panel they sell is 100w and my garden will be aprox 6' x 4' . This will be our first year with an indoor garden, but we need enough fruits and vegetables to supply our family of five and want to make sure this is a good option before spending my money. Can you please share your knowledge about these Grow Lights at http://www.thegrowlights.com

I just stumbled upon this while looking for someones post that was also talking about them. The ones that screw in to a normal fixture are, I think, $50. The search for that post and the link therein continues. You may want to keep looking too, those are too pricey, and there have got to be better ones out there.

I joined this forum hoping to find more information on agricultural uses for LED lighting.
It seems that LEDs can be tuned to any wavelength by mixing. In addition, LEDs can be dimmed to any level, which is very appealing to breeders and growers of chickens. Here's an example http://www.poultryled.com/ I found.
I didn't realize that chickens can be made to grow too fast, or that there was an optimum growth and feeding period possible by combining artificial dusk to dawn periods in unison with feeding.
There are LED lighting manufacturers that can customize product to any application, if it's worthwhile.
Here's another example http://www.globaled-solutions.com/
So my inquiry is for what color spectrum is beneficial to what plants, and what brightness or lux level is needed?
Thanks in advance for any help, and I hope to assist you too.
