Hey guys. Been a bit crazy here.
Here are a couple new silverpoints I've finished recently. I also mounted them both on cast paper.
Pretty simple process, just sculpted the shapes I wanted in clay then poured a plaster mold over them, then pressed the pulp into the plaster mold.
I think it presents the drawings in a unique way.
Gorgeous work Jim. I had never heard of "Silverpoints" before and would like to more about them. Is there a good online source for information on the process?
Your work is beautiful.
BTW - DH and I drove to San Antonio several weeks ago from rural KS to pick up a van that we bought from a broker there. It was hard core driving to get there 899 miles each way and sure wish we had time to stop and check things out but it was push and shove to get there and back.
Thanks guys.
Pagancat, funny you should ask. Working on the cast paper lead me toward sculpture, so I think that will be the next evolution of my artistic side. I did one small piece for a friends b-day present and he asked if I could reproduce it so some of his friends could buy them too. I've sold 40 of them so far, so I have a lot of work to do!
Georgina,
Eventually, I'll have a website up that will explain all the details and history of silverpoint, but for now there is an informative site at http://www.silverpointweb.com
That is a long road trip! Too bad you didn't have time to explore. The weather here is perfect this time of year. Sunny, clear, and 80 degrees.
Wow! Thanks for the link to the Silverpoint process info. Very very interesting. You have a lot of talent and do beautiful work.
Yes, it would have been nice to have had time to scout around Texas but DH works for the railroad and is tied to those trains. Its hard to plan anything really. We are both looking forward to his retirement and freedom from the tracks.
Weather here this week has been awsome. Sunny, cool, yet warm and just perfect for being outdoors.
Thanks again. Look forward to your website coming together.
