I realize that many first time buyers, who never pay, sign up, just to make a purchase. They obviously found the listings through google and other search engines.

And here I need to say I am very impressed on how Dave markets our listings. If I do a search for my own items, Dave's marketplace items show up on the very top in Google, way above my own web store, my Ebay and Ecrater listings.

Yesterday I had a special running with buy 1 get 1 free and sold seeds for over $100. All but one to Newbies who signed up just to purchase them. Only one $5 order from a regular member got paid for while none of the newbies has paid so far and I am expecting not to get paid at all.

I have at least $50 or more worth of orders every week from Newbies who don't pay.

It is, because they obviously only signed up to purchase and are not really interested in being Davesgarden members. Hence, they don't log in any more and wait until they receive payment instructions per email. (which they don't receive)

This is such a huge loss, not only for sellers but also for Dave. The loss goes into the hundreds and it would be so easy to prevent it. I mean I cannot complain as long as I don't pay any fees, but how much more it could be, if people were able to get direct emails.

I am not a programmer and don't know how difficult it would be to activate direct emailing, but I am sure, even if it is difficult and Dave had to hire somebody, it would be well worth it and pay for itself.

Being able to email directly would definitely be more efficient, but if people don't read a dmail message for a certain period (I think it's 48 hrs), then the system sends a message to their regular email address letting them know that they have a message here.

That doesn't work in all cases. I have never received an email from Daves garden myself. Even missed one d-mail , because I never saw it in the header. Just today I got a second dmail from the same person and found out there was an unread one from 3 weeks ago.
