I learned that "phototropic and geotropic bending of plant stems and roots" from my much older cousins biology textbook. We used it as a line in a comedy skit we were doing! I figured out the phototropic part as an adult plant lover; what's geotropic?
I'd think that geotropic would mean "bending towards the Earth", but I don't have knowledge of such a tropism in plants, although roots could be said to be geotropic, I imagine.
Thanks, all (or b-b-both) of you. It's remarkable to me that at my advanced age, I am merrily singing the line in the song "phototropic and geotropic bending of plant stems and roots" without once pondering the meaning? What happened to my questioning intellect? I guess it didn't extend as far as HS Biology. :-(
Thank you, Lari Ann, for going where my HS Science teacher dared not go!
