Okay you all.. Be Prepared..Here is good news and bad news...

Bad news is: The General is moving to Michigan...

Good news is: The General is moving to Michigan...

Explanation :

Youngest Son who lives in MI has bought another farm near his current one for the extra hayfields, and pasture spaces plus barns etc..in order to add to his current Horse boarding facility...The house is smaller than his current one, so they don't want to move over there...He has offered it to us rent free, utilities only...
Since we have not converted from our current lease purchase on this place to the Land contract yet, we have decided to make the move...
This also means with no house payment I can finally retire so, I filed for my Social Security last Monday...

I have no clue what the new brooder house looks like, but there will be chickens in the near future...(Back Off CF!! Not sure what I need first, beside heated waterers and Chicken Coats) LOL

We are hoping to be moved by Thanksgiving if at all possible...so my presence here may be a bit thin while I get packed and ready to go, but I WILL be keeping my eye on you Hatching Modules!!

Gen. D

Congratulations! Now as a retiree you can do whatever work you really want!

I am longing for the day myself--work keeps getting in the way of my life:0)

"Denn kannen sie machen, was sie wollen." My German spelling stinks--but it is from Bertolt Brecht and means "Then you can do, whatever you wish" said in a very low and threatening voice.

That's barely in Michigan to me. I am all the way up North in Traverse City. Check the Michigan Gardening sight. There are several members in that area. I'll tell you the same thing I tell all newcomers and visitors to Michigan. Welcome to Michigan. Hope ya brought warm chothes.

General Dusty, Ma'am,
Does that mean you are selling the gorgeous piece of land you have been sharing pictures of and making me drool all over my keyboard with? That's sad, but the thought of retirement sure makes it sound worth it! :-D

No Lazy...The Land Contracts have not been signed...We were *renting* here for another year until he completed his contract with the original seller..It was a convoluted deal at best, and this guy is a first class jerk, so as much as I love this house, I am not going to be real sorry to go, knowing my son and grandson will be there waiting...My hubby is disabled, and can do nothing to help me, and I am just getting too tired trying to do it all.. I have been for the last 8 yrs, and I'm done...I work a full time job sometimes 55-60 hrs a week, and then try to do laundry, cooking, cleaning, and yarkwork/gardening too...When my Son offered, I was ready to jump on it...All I am waiting for now is to find out when the tennants in the new house will be out...In the meantime, I am packing the extra stuff, and getting it ready to go, and paring down some things I don't want to keep anymore...We will only be 3 hours from here, so it won't be a bad move...

Dusty,
So glad this is such a good deal for you! I can relate to trying to do it all. My husband broke his leg at the end of August. He was our stay-at-home dad so its been a real chore trying to take care of the house, the kids, the animals, him, and still make it to work full time to make sure we have money to support us.

It sounds like this is a real blessing.

Congrats!

Ohhhh my Geo love... you KNOW I will never desert you !!! I love you and Neal dearly!!! As soon as things are settled up there next spring after the weather breaks, I want you boys to come and visit!!! Plan on at least a weekend...My Fairy is going with me under tight wraps...I know how to hold her over the winter, and she will be fine...I still want another one if you find another runner...
One of these days I will be able to share some of my daylilys with you... and you can always get eggs or chickens from me...I have decided on the Black Langshans...Big Brown eggs, and Bigger birds...Aaron says the Amish have the market cornered on fresh brown eggs up there at about $1.50 a dozen...We shall see what happens when my BIG Birds show up...LOL

If I get this setup going, I'll bet my produce will sell pretty good too...That chicken poo outta really fertilize a garden with the compost added and tilled in for the winter with all of the leaves on top...

Thanks Jas... I don't envy me either .. as usual, I have it all to do alone...

Molly, I just hope we make it by Thanksgiving...We have to get the tennants out of the house first... :-((
