I just bought a composter and am wondering if I should stick small fallen branches and loose leaves from my pepper berry tree in there? I've heard that it's noxious and other plants here don't seem to like living under it (maybe also because it's awfully shady under there- anyone have recommendations for plants that can survive near these trees? ) and that it used to be used as a seed retardant before the advent of commercial weed killers, which makes me think that it's not going to be good to spread it around my other plants. True???
