I also never thought these beauties could survive anything other than warmer climates.
Then I started seeing them in my state (Minnesota). Of course I bought one and this will be my first year to see how well one does for myself. Like Ms. Stark , I do minimal work w/ my plants.I usually wait till they "ask" for a drink and fertalizer is water from the fish tank when I clean it.
