A neighbor states our oaks are water oaks and live only 25 years. It's hugh and it was very big when we moved here in '83, 25 years ago. The tree is much wider today. We had heat stress I believe, which i have worked on and corrected. The bark was separating, I don't know how to describe it, but I knew something was wrong. It's a very important tree to the ecosystem growing around it and it wound be devastating to lose it. Fish pond and shade plants. I've tried looking up info but can't find any. What do you think?
From what I found on DG I'm convinced that mine is Live Oak. The Water Oak doesn't even come close. And the tree is doing fine, she had me worried the last 2 years. I think she's very stately.
