Hi everyone :-)

I was hoping you could help me identify this Dianthus species. I sowed it as D. nitidus, but it doesn't fit the bill, I haven't been able to figure out what it is.

Any ideas?

Dianthus pinifolius and D. armeria both bear some similarity - both have bracts, which are dark on the former - but I'm not convinced it's either. (A Saponaria species may not be totally out of the question, either.) Of course, you could always post to the ID forum and likely get a quick answer...

Ah ha, thanks, Leftwood - I'll have to see if I can apply that to my mystery saponaria(?). (I posted it some time ago but with no resulting ID.) The leaves are linear both on the basal rosette and stems.

BTW, rannveig's plant seems to have been ID'd as D. carthusianorum - lovely plant.

Yes thanks altagardener :-) I posted it over on the ID forum and I think D. carthusianorum fits the bill :-)
