Hello! I am usually on the African Violet forum, I am enjoying this forum, need to look some more.

I have a little parrot and you have to be very careful with their sensitive respiratory system. I am also very sentitive.

I need to give some TLC to the kitchen cabinets below my sink. I need to lightly sand and stain. Can someone please help me find a safer stain to use? Also, something to make it waterproof. We got new granite and backsplash, SO pretty, but now the cabinets in the sink area look bad. Thank you. Sally

I would look for something that has no VOC's--if there are no fumes going into the air then there shouldn't be any effect on your bird or you. I know they have no-VOC paints so I would imagine there might be no-VOC stains and polyurethane type products. If they exist there are probably several brands, I'd go to your local home center and read the labels, if they're no-VOC they'll definitely advertise it somewhere on the package.

Yes, I have heard of paints. Water based paint isn't so bad either. I have no problems with that really.

I have looked online and didn't find anything, but I will look more. I can Google for No VOC. Thanks.
