| Ok,I dove in and placed my very first order on the Marketplace yesterday morning. It said after I hit the buy button that I would be contacted by seller to confirm and for payment total. I still haven't heard from them. Since it's my first time I don't know how long to wait for a reply or if there was something else I needed to do.

| You are all right. The system operates a bit slowly on sending your dmail bill. That is why I made the comment on the other thread that the sooner the buyer can pay the smaller amount of no pay sales there will be. That is a chronic complaint among the marketplace sellers. From here on, it just takes patience. What gardener doesn't have patience! LOL |

| I notice that the responses on DG Marketplace are a lot faster than some ebay vendors. I waited for 36 hours and got a response (somewhat) tonight. |

| Well, another newbie here with questions. I ordered something, did not hear for a while, wondered if the seller was even still around, then did hear, info with shipping cost added. I responded to that with another Dmail and paid right away via PayPal -- I was expecting, from the seller's Dmail, a message indicating receipt of payment and indicating when the product would ship. I have not heard anything. Payment was made on the 28th of October, then I sent a Dmail asking if it had been received, and when I might expect shipment, on the 31st.
I did just directly email the seller... maybe should have waited to see if there is a response to that before posting, but heck, here I am posting. ;-)
Is there a procedure or etiquette for this scenario? I know people get sick and stuck and snowed under and what-all, but I sure would like my order, and if not, a refund.
Suggestions anyone?
Thanks!

| Personally, I would be furious if I were you. If someone is going to put an item on the market, then be around or find your husband or someone else to cover...that is terrible I think of the seller. Don't forget you can leave feedback just like you would for any transaction. |

| Well, in fairness, the item had originally been posted months earlier... and honestly, Gessiegail, LOL! I don't have the energy to get furious, but I appreciate the support there.
I'm still hoping this will work out nicely, somehow. I really appreciate the palpable good will in these forums and hope to feed that, not to feed strife of any kind.
But I will not be so quick to trust in future, I guess.

| If you'd never gotten any response then I'd guess that they were on vacation and had forgotten to deactivate their listings before they left (or missed this one since it was old). But since they sent you a message about payment, if there was stuff going on in their life that was going to prevent them from shipping promptly they should have let you know. However, it's possible that they have already shipped it and it's on its way to you--most sellers would probably let you know it's coming, but just like there are beginner buyers there are also beginner sellers, so they may not have thought to do that. |

| This is not a new seller, from what I can tell. And I do not have access to a phone number.
I do hope the item has shipped and will arrive but somehow I doubt that, as the promise was for a Dmail acknowledging payment which i still have not seen, so...
fingers still crossed but getting a bit tired... ;-) |

| I am getting good at going back and canceling any plant I don't want to stay on because it is a shock to my system 2 months later when someone wants something. That happened to me and I didn't even have the plant...it made the buyer most upset. |

| I have to say, I've purchased many things on DG and have "NEVER" looked at the sellers' feedback. My bad, I am sure.
It would certainly be more convenient to have a feedback score shown on the item page. It could also indicate how new to DG the seller is.
Now, I know it is easy to pass the cursor over the sellers' name to find some info, I never think to do that. That said, I am not new to DG. I am sure the new DG members will overlook that feature too so I would suggest making it more visible. Higher profile info does sway my buying on other sites. Just a thought... pod
Good luck on your purchase... there really is no excuse for this lack of communication from the seller. If unable to deliver, DG has made it easy to stop the listings. |

| Well as much as I hate to say it , it will probably be the same way when Dave gets the auction site up and going. I think that is one of the biggest problems with buying sites. They take your order and then you don't hear from them and you keep emailing til your blue in the face and still no response, so it makes you wonder if it has been shipped or what. I think if a person buys something from you that you should keep in contact until they recieve the item. !! |

| Hi everyone, I just wanted to make it known I did just hear about my order; the mix up was a combination of one person not knowing what another person was doing, along with some days of internet outage complexifying things. I believe all is well now and do not plan to leave any negative feedback. Although if I don't get my stuff I will have to revisit that decision.
Still it feels good to have an explanation and the opportunity to restore goodwill.

| Strange things happen everyday in every way in life. I always contact my buyers to see if they received their packages ok. I got a package back in the mail yesterday from a lady. I use Pay Pal to ship out all packages and I didn't notice she was using someone else's pay pal with a different address and they came back looking really bad. So, I threw them away...Now I am guessing it is my responsibility to send everything back again...postage this time on me...but I think she should have told me the address she was putting on the dmail was not the same as the paypal address???????????????????? |

| Mm, that's a tricky one. I work in an online capacity that involves a version of some customer service type interactions, and my personal feeling is to err on the side of the customer where possible. But it is different because it only involves digital products, not physical ones someone has to schlep to the P.O. or pay postage on etc.
People do funny things with online ordering, like use one email address on their PayPal and then later on email you from another email address wondering where their order is, only they never thought to tell you to send it there instead of to the email you have from PayPal which in fact is t he only way you know to contact them! Etc.
I guess in any system there is lots of room for honest error on both parties' parts and we are all best served if we try to take it easy on one another -- within good boundaries of course, LOL!

| Honestly she may not have thought to let you know about the address thing--most online stores have you fill out the blanks for billing and shipping address if they're different from each other and I'm sure many people just fill those out without really thinking why it matters, so I can totally understand why she wouldn't have thought about it.
The situation sounds a bit fishy to me though--there are plenty of people whose billing & shipping addresses may not match because of PO boxes, etc but you said she was using someone else's paypal account and then wanting things shipped to her and to me that's very suspicious--are you positive she's authorized to use that other person's paypal? |

| Well,I'm back and none to happy. I phone the seller to make my purchase with cc.back at the end of Oct. Very nice gentleman. Promised to ship my plant the following week. That's been about 3 weeks ago. I emailed to ask if plant had been shipped FIVE days ago with no response. I checked his rating which is a 100% positive but only two ratings were made in 2008. I don't think it's my resposibilty to keep running up my phone bill to check where my plant is but it looks like I'll have to.I'm gonna hate to ruin his rating but if I haven't heard from him soon,I see no choice in the matter. Since this was my first experience w/ the marketplace and not going well,it will probably be my last. I've been purchasing plants via mailorder and on-line for years and this has been my only bad experience. |

| 31 days later??? I'd pull the plug! You did a credit card so you can have the payment reversed. Feedback is in order also. What a pain in the royal rump... so sorry!
They are not all like that. I've only had one purchase which was forgotten. They had a lame excuse about something wrong with the mail. Sent the seeds out shortly after that. The rest of the transactions have gone as expected. |

Do we contact DG MarketPlace admn. too or just post on the Watchdog?
I think Wayside has the hydrangea I want. I haven't ordered from them in a number of years because of jap.maples purchase made with them but if it's they only place I can get it...so be it.

Yup,there's a list of hydrangeas I'm looking for.
Lemon Daddy and Little Honey are the top two.I want them for my collection but I also have been looking for wholesale sources and those are really harder to find than hens teeth. I do believe Walters Garden has Little Honey but the min. order higher than I naeed or can move.
I gave the guy one last chance to the end of the day yesterday to reply but again ...nothing so I'm off to the Watchdog
