Being a health conscious baker, I just loved reading your article and think apple butter as a filling is a great idea! I always wanted an apple tree.
It must have been so interesting to watch the wedding cakes being made in a cast iron skillet...it is hard to imagine. We love cooking in our cast iron skillets, I'm curious to try cake in them now. How did the outside of the wedding cakes get decorated? I'm guessing, maybe fresh flowers?
