A road project in front of our house has gone on nearly forever. The sidewalks are half poured. My house has forms laid but concrete work is stalled due to the cold snap. The finish ashphalt layers aren't done either. Again due to weather. The front lawn to the curb is a disaster. A landscaper is supposed to come in, fill in with top soil and hydroseed. There is no way newly germinated grass seed will make it through the winter now. Plus, where I had a slope up to the road I now have a slope down to the road. Winter rains are likely to cause a lot of erosion. Can I lay sod now and expect it to survive the winter or is it too late for that too? If I do, do I just rake the hydroseeding into the top soil and lay the sod over it? I can keep it watered right up until the last possible minute.
