It is a sweet wine-like dessert drink made from fresh berries; ie; elderberry, currant etc. It is very good and makes a great gift but needs to age in the fridge for a month or two first. Thanks for the info!

I brought a bottle of Cassis back from France in order to make Kir. But if you have black currants available, why not make your own?

I did a google search on "Cassis recipe" and found the following:

    http://www.france-property-and-information.com/cassis-liquor...

    http://lists.ibiblio.org/pipermail/labruscagrape/2005-June/0...

    http://www.recipezaar.com/Homemade-Creme-De-Cassis-Liqueur-1...

and there were more. You can try each one and see which one you like best!
    Enjoy
