I'm new to the concept of using a hotbed but am planning a HUGE garden for next summer and am hoping to save some money by starting the seeds/plugs myself. I live in Northeast Ohio, zone 5 and the questions are:
1. How far apart should the heating cables be and what wattage?
2. Is there a good book/website to go to with lots of information on this?
3. Would it be best to start with seeds directly in the ground or in pots?
4 If I purchase plugs when would the best time to put them in the hot bed or would they go directly into a cold frame?
5. If you have other information that would be useful ~ I would really appreciate sharing your knowledge.
Thanks so much,
Billie
