Has anyone had any experience with painting vinyl exterior windows? Or is this a serious no-no? If it can be done, what would be the possible
disadvantages? I am having a new roof put on and when done would like to have the house painted and change the color of the windows and
trim. The windows now are a taupe shade and I have been locked into working with this for years. Replacement windows are not an option for
me. I am thinking of a cream shade. Should I forget about it?

Don't remember the name of it , but go to home depot and tell the guy what you want . there is a paint just for vinyl and plastic . it does a great job, and you'll be happy with it . sally

oh yeh, you can paint plastic furniture or anything vinyl or plastic . you don't have a hugh choice of colors , but that stuff sticks good . you will have to tape off your project ,unless they have started making it in other than spray . there is also a primer that works well on vinyl . tou can brush paint over it . check with the super in the paint dept , he (or she) can give you better advice on the products than me . good luck on your task . sally

But if they are double pane glass you can't paint the inside of the window.
So the area between the glass panes will show the original color.
Also the inside track where the windows ride.

The Plastic Krylon paint works marvelously though!

Thank you Sally and Ric for your help. Think I'll start with a small window in the back and see how it goes.
If it doesn't look good I'll be stuck with it right?

Yep pretty much.
Though you could always paint it back the original color.
