I've had poor results growing bell peppers in the past, and I've thought it's because of a virus in my garden soil - but I don't know that for sure. This year I grew all non-bells and had a GREAT harvest of Gypsy, Carmen, and Bounty sweet pepper hybrids, and it also happened to be one of our wettest years on record with over 70 inches of rain during the growing season.
Next spring I'll plant those non-bell hybrid varieties again, but I also want to try a few bell pepper plants, give them a whole lot of water (which I've never done before), and see what happens.
I found "Elisa Hybrid" in the Tomato Grower's Supply catalog and it sounds like a good one for me to try because it's resistant or tolerant to many diseases. Here's the description from T.G.S.:
--------------------------
"ELISA HYBRID #9211 - Extremely early elongated bell, Dutch-type pepper. Fruit is smooth, thick-walled with an average 6 inch length and 3 to 4 lobes. When ripe, these huge, gorgeous peppers are bright red with a sweet flavor. Tobacco mosaic virus resistant and tolerant to Potato Virus Y, Black spot, and tobacco etch virus. Sets well even in cooler temperatures. 74 days."

Has anybody here grown Elisa, or do you know anything about the variety? There's not much info about it in PlantFiles. Thanks.
