Two of my new palms are H. lagenicaulis and H. verschaffeltii. I am in zone 9b (central FL). We usually get at least one frost each winter. What can I do to protect these two palms? I have a couple of those pop-up canopys that I know are tall enough to go over each palm. Should I wrap the trunks also? Use heat lamps? I want to get all the supplies together than I'll need to minimize damage so that when the time comes, I'll be prepared.
Also, in plant files, it says the hardiness for H. verschaffeltii is "USDA Zone 10a: to -1.1 °C (30 °F)". Does that mean the palm can stand temps down to 30º?
