Many years ago I purchased a plant from Abbey Gardens called 'Austrocephalocereus azureus'; it was a columnar cactus of intense blue color and had golden spines, few in number, located on the ribs. The plant was grown indoors and attained a spectacular color; it was eventually about 30 inches tall; it died some years ago, never blooming and never offsetting. I have been trying to find another; as best as I can tell the genus name has been assigned elsewhere and the plants I have seen are more spiny than the one I had. Any ideas what the name is now and where it may be purchased?
you sure it wasn't a small Micranthocereus? those were once called that same genus, and they sure are blue... and have the golden spines, more sparse when young.
