As I mentioned above, we worry when a regularly posting member "goes missing."

One way to ensure you can stay connected without publishing your address or phone number is to give that contact information to another active DG member. Then, in the "additional information" section of your home page, mention that person is your emergency contact. If somebody is concerned about your absence, they can Dmail your contact, and that person can get in touch with you to make sure everything is OK.

That this system seems useful and necessary to so many members here just adds to my conviction that DG is a community in every good sense of the word.

Wishing you all a sunny day and no reason to need your emergency contact person, ever!

Jill,

I loved your article! I've commented on the community here at DG often. It amazes me how much I have gotten to know the people I have met here. Funny, when I tell someone "I have friends in Alaska" or "I was chatting with someone I know in India" they look at me as if I have lost my mind. DG is truly like my front porch!

Thanks, Jody! My DG friends often enter into my everyday conversation, also. My family is getting used to it, LOL.
