I'm way too far behind to comment on everybody's posts but I do want to say "welcome" to our newcomers: Rusty and Lee.
Kelli: my Thanksgiving/Christmas cactus has some great big buds on it and should be blooming out within a few days. I can't take a picture of it though, because my DGD borrowed my camera a couple of weeks ago and I have yet to get it back.
Sharon: I am sorry you have been under the weather and I hope you are better by now. I just skimmed over the previous thread so I may have missed it, but did you lose your job because you were ill? I certainly hope not!
I believe I have already thanked you all for your kind words of condolence in the loss of my husband but just in case, I want to say again how wonderful the good people here on Dave's Garden have been. I have received many cards and dmails and many of you have signed the online guestbook. It means so much to me to know that you took the time to do that. Thank you again for everything.

It has been very cold here and it is currently 40 with a low of 31 expected tonight but a warmer high tomorrow of 58.

Hugs to you all,

It is cold here in Pa. Nigh time temps in the 19-22 deg range. Daytime in the 'up to 32' range. Snow flurries from off of Lake Erie. We have about 4 inches that mels on the roads and driveway during the highs of 32 and sunny. Have not gone out for 4 days. No energy nor inclination to do so. I figure my body says stay home and recuperate - so I listen to it.

It is interesting to see more and more people raising small animals for meat - goats and sheep. Although I never could like sheep and lamb, I raised about 1/2 doz goats at a time. Their flesh is low fat and has the texture of venison - with out the 'gamey' taste. I love venison - it is high protein low fat meat but requires a different seasoning procedure.

The large 'Dutch Giant' rabbits, filled with stuffing and roasted are really a treat. Only thing was, my husband got attached to the critters and was reluctant to eat them. I ended up taking them to a local livestock auction as they will quickly eat you out of house and home.

Back when I raised rabbits pellets were cheap, you could raid the grocery dumpsters for old veggies and I had enough room to put a pen rather than cage them. (think free range chicken housing)
They cost about nothing to raise... now it's a different story.
Plus Robyn won't eat the meat we raise... so... I let someone else do it... LOL!

Looks like near 50 tomorrow and Sunny!
28 now and calm...

Here's where we finished tonight.
Make no mistake Robyn does at least 50% of the work.
I've been teaching her to use the power tools and she does ALL the tiling.
She cut almost all the 2 x 4's in this section.
I measure, yell out the size, she cuts and I nail or screw them up.

Good morning!

It's windy and cold, mostly cloudy and dry. 37F.

Ric - so sorry to hear about Sidney, shocked really. You have D-mail.

Sally - I forgot yesterday to thank you for your kind comments about Selma, and you noticed her bow grip! Do you play?

All this talk about eating rabbits is interesting ... I've heard they're good but I couldn't possibly try them since we have a pet rabbit. She earns her keep by providing me with droppings I mix in with the compost ;-) lol

Another "re-run", this one's from December 2007 ...

Hope you all have a great day!

Got it Rann.
You have DMail.

Cold again here but nothing like yesterday morning. 21
Watching football I noticed the super cold appears to have pushed further East.
The funny thing is that it's currently 51 in Denver, CO at just after Sunup...
We should see temps near 50 today under Sunny skies... then the rain/snow move in...

Beautiful Thanksgiving Cactus!!
Ours didn't get a lot of care this year so are not yet budding.
Our Hibiscus though still hasn't stopped cranking out the blooms.

Thought you'd get a kick out of the insulation in the 'bay' under the closet.
We got 5 HUGE bags of it from our Son's friend.
It's actually door and window insulation but... lol!
Edited to add:
W/o the ceiling being insulated and using only a small oil filled heater it was 42 in the room this morning.
Since the temps were near 20 last night... not bad! lol!

Ric

Kelli, gorgeous orange on that pumpkin! Thanks for the new thread. What beautiful plants!! What beautiful family! If I had to chose which color I'd be there all day!!

Marsue, you're family and a beautiful person. I hope you can come back full time soon. We miss you!

Rann, I love cliffs and this one is so pretty. I love the exposed layers of earth. It's like it's giving it's secrets away.

Rusty, you sure have a green thumb! I'd like to see a picture of all of them blooming at the same time. I wish I had room for one. (My cats would eat it if it sat out.)

Kwanjin, I love your enthusiasm! Can't wait to see it fully open. It's sure red!!

Crying for Sugar.

Ric, it's coming along. I sure wish I had a new room.

Seeds, we have to listen to our bodies. Hope you recoup soon!

Ric, Robin has my admitation!!

Rusty, sounds like a very nice scrapbook in the making. It's good to have a hobby and warm dog by your side in the cold weather :o)

Rann, it would be nice, but I can't sing a note much less find one on an instrument. I notice how people hold it because I really like violin music. I'm proud of her too, for mastering it. What a beautiful picture!

Ric, the insulation brought a smile to my face, but you won't regret it! And those temps are not bad indeed!

30* and sunny. I hung clothes out at 27*. A bit cold on the fingers.

Rann: as always, Selma is a lovely "flower" (and Hildur Eva, too) Lovely "re-run" photos. :o))
Celia: . Pretty red flower. What is it?
Ric, you have dmail. Missing Sugar. The FPR is coming along nicely.
My son used to raise rabbits when he was in high school. That "project" didn't last very long--taking care of them took up more time than he was willing to spend. I never could have eaten one of them. They are much too cute! LOL

Currently 45 and overcast. Feels colder than that to me probably because we haven't seen the sun at all today. High this afternoon to be around 56.

The yard sale went pretty good this time, not as good as the first. Everyone was complaining at how "cold" it was at 52* LOL! Luckily I had lost my voice and "they" couldn't hear me laughing. We'll hold another in a couple of weeks. Still have more "stuff" and more "stuff" to go through. My voice is coming back, but I'm still not 100% well.

I went for a little drive this morning and finally, after years of hearing about the peacocks on Scott Road, saw 2 peacocks. I've only seen them in a zoo. They are sooo beautiful in person. There is a sign in the street with a picture of a peacock and "crossing" written under. This picture isn't great, the sun was glaring on the wind sheild, but it's when I first saw them.

Cumulus79, the pic of the snow is so relaxing and calming. Here, in the Deep South of the US we just don't get as many snows as I remember as a child (I'm 51). Each Winter, I hope it will be the year we get a good snowfall but it's been about 10 yrs since we had one of much significance. So, I'm , again, hoping the same. When we do get a snow, it's usually in January or February.

MySharona, I had no idea it snowed there. That surprises me. How much did you get back in '96? But, truly, it did snow more when I was a child around here than it does now. Even though I'm 51 and had the total knee replacement in Sept., if it did snow, I'd be out in it just as any child would.LOL It's just something calming about it. Now, I suppose of I had to live with it day in and day out, it would be a completely different story. One if the worst things we often get here are the ice storms that take down tree limbs which in turn take down power lines. A few years ago, we had one just a couple days before Christmas and some people didn't get their power restored until 2 weeks later! Now, that wouldn't make me feel like a kid again.
Take care and when you find time, tell us about your snow fall. BTW, where is Fernandina Beach? Have a good afternoon and night. Lee

They are very impressive in person, but I read their voice is horrible. Yep, they are gorgeous! I love their head feathers. Sorry Gary had a setback. Poor guy! They shold not have done the chemo!!

We took MIL over to Orcutt Ranch but they were having a function over there so we couldn't get close to the house. However, there are still a lot of grounds to roam around. Lee - I live on a barrier island in NE Florida. It's 13 miles long and 4 miles the widest part. As far north as one can get without being in Georgia, which is 15-20 minutes North depending on how fast you drive LOL! Two links...

http://www.ameliaisland.com/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fernandina_Beach,_Florida

The snow fall was around 2". I remember the winter toursits were upset with the distraction LOL! My brother came in for Christmas from Wichita and the bridges were closed. He said drove around until he found a bridge that he could drive around the barriers and came on in. I was raised in Bellaire, TX (inside Houston) and remember it snowing there every 8-10 years, enough to close businesses and schools.

Marsue I forgot to tell you that we call the streets with tree overhangs canopy streets. There are many here. Most of the trees that form the canopy are Live Oaks.
Sally Im getting my voice back, but still squeak and squawk my way through LOL! Jeff was teasing me with honk honk, like a goose LOL! Even Prissy looked at me sideways like whats that sound! Mitzi made me money, but not as much as 2 weeks ago. Its fun regardless. Weve known each other for 5 years, but have become better friends over the last year. We enjoy each others company and shop well together : )
Kelli Im going to start a rain dance for you! Anyone want to join? LOL! Im clueless lemons are a winter plant? Sure is a pretty bloom!

The Christmas stuff is out of the attic and all the bins are sitting on the garage floor. Ill be decorating this weekend. Most of my Christmas shopping is done. I only need to buy some filler stuff.

Sharon, thanks for the geography lesson as now I can put things into perspective. No, living in Houston, you didn't get much snow. Thanks for the links. I will to them tomorrow when I'm not so hungry and tired. I wish Owen would volunteer to go into town and get some burgers or something. So, I suppose I'll settle for a salad and some grilled provolone cheese sandwiches. Take care and have a good night. Lee

Darn, I miss Sugar, she was a personal friend. There was a guy in the mid west who also left/had to leave. - I may be next - but at the rate old friends are leaving it is very disheartening. So much for free speech

Yes I do sleep... just very little...about 6 hours a night...and a 15 minute catnap in the afternoon.

Today no FPR work got done.
It was a hang the lights, clean the gutters (hey you're already up there),
prune the Trumpet Vines (again hey you're already up there) and make a list of needed supplies.

Beautiful day!
Oh wait I did finish gluing down the roof!

Oh wow, lots to catch up on this morning. Beautiful pics. Sharon, some day I'm going to have to visit Florida. Your area sounds just beautiful. The only southern state I've been to is NC.

I must get some things done today. There is a chili cook-off at Darrell's work tomorrow and I'm making an entry. I have a sweet potato casserole to get ingredients for.

Some fine ladies in the Brug Forum have sent me some cuttings and they are rooting nicely. I can't wait for my first blooms!

28F with a repeat of the last 2 weeks. 52 coming. Rain and snow also coming and I hope it doesn't affect Crystal's trip here this Friday.

Good morning, everyone! It's so good to see new people posting. :-)

It has warmed up a bit here. It's going to be in the upper 70s with a 30% chance of rain. I sent a note to the little bunny's teachers on Friday, and they sent all (4!) of the jackets back home with her. Yayy!

The peacocks are beautiful, Sharon! I'm glad you're feeling a little better. Can you post a link to Gary's page again? I'm sorry he's not feeling well. :-(

That's a beautiful bloom, Kelli! Lemons... yummm... I didn't know the trees could be variegated. If we had more sun/room, I'd love to plant some lemon and lime trees. Right now all we have fruit-wise is a Mexican Plum that doesn't fruit. I hope you are having a good visit with your in laws. :-)

Happy Anniversary, Sharon! Beautiful orchid!! He did good, indeed! :o))

Lovely cactus, too, Kelli.

Celia: mmmm--chili--nothing better on a cold winter day as long as it isn't the "five-alarm" kind. Maybe you can share the recipe withus sometime?

Rusty--very pretty mum

I had a visit from DG friends on the Mid-South forum today. One drove all the way from her home in Mississippi (4 hours away). Her grown daughter came with her. Another DGer drove about 40 miles to get here. We had a wonderful visit together and the love and comfort they brought with them was greatly appreciated.

It was warmer today--in the 60's--a welcome relief and after a drizzly start the sun came out and the day was lovely! Low tonight around 33. Currently 41 and Dyson dark.

Sharon: here's my Donkey Ears--I put it on the bed so I could get a good photo of it against the white window shade.

Deb we hung 3... LOL!
But none on a door! ;-)

Well I got REAL well informed on the Weather today.
Rain, Cold and Blowing Hard!

About 10 AM I got a call to bring a gear over to the main plant. (14 miles away)
No big deal though we did have a bit of snow on the ground.
From there I was told I needed to make two deliveries.
I normally don't do deliveries but w/ the rain we couldn't use the flatbed.
AND our normal driver is off on Vacation.
So I ended up goingin our 20 year old Box Truck.
I drove for years but haven't had a truck on the HWY in 20 years.
NOT Fun! LOL!
First a fairly local stop maybe 20 miles...then 50 miles farther north up I-75.
The whole trip I saw traffic backing up deeper and deeper southbound...
So after I finished run I went cross country.
Since I grew up in that area I know the back roads and took the smaller rural HWY's home.
Maybe a half hour longer... but probably actually quicker w/ the traffic problems.
Cross winds were a bear though!
I'm REAL familiar w/ that truck now! LOL!

Good Morning!

Someone asked earlier if the peacocks belong to someone. They do, but the neighbors dont complain about them walking around. Ive heard there are 10 of them, but I can only vouch for 2 at this time,

Now my cold has turned into the hacking coughgeez. I told DH Id have to take a rain check on dinner. It wouldnt have been very romantic with all that hacking going on LOL!

Rann Iceland is so picturesque! Any news on the loans? Were keeping you in our prayers.
Deb I hung my harvest wreath yesterday
Kelli Wow your cactus is exploding!
Marsue I love chili as long as its not too hot too. I made white chicken chili last weekend. Mmmmm so good! Im so glad you had company today. You and yours are still in our prayers. Donkey ears is looking good! Yours is getting ready to bloom too!
Ric Darn those people when they go on vacation LOL! Gotta love the back roads. You know its a holiday here when we have traffic jams (more than 6 cars at a light).

Good morning! :-) It's another gorgeous day here. It was a little chilly, so I had to send the little bunny in a jacket again... I hope it comes home this time! LOL The poor girl... the bus got here early today, and I was running late. Usually she gets to sit on the couch and eat a bagel while watching PBS for a while after she is dressed and ready. Today I woke her up, helped her get dressed, threw her jacket on, and was brushing her hair as we went out the door cuz the bus was outside already. I didn't even get to brush her teeth! (They eat breakfast at school, so she'll be ok. :-) ) She's off for the weekend after today, which will be wonderful. I hate worrying about missing the bus every morning and afternoon.

It's a little cooler this morning, but it's a gorgeous day out.

Good morning!

It was raining earlier, but it's stopped for the momen, quite breezy and 42F.

I managed to get some outside Christmas lights up yesterday, more to go ... a lot of people put their lights up this past weekend so things are starting to look festive :-) Which is nice in all this darkness.

The photo I posted yesterday looks like it's taken in the evening but that was actually sunrise around 11:30 am ;-)

Sharon - The IMF loan has been approved and the first payment will be here next week I think. Other loans seem to have been secured as well, that's all I know. I've stopped following the news it's just too depressing and somehow there isn't much concrete information ... it's all speculation and finger pointing at this point. There's a lot of angry people, protests, and last night there was an open meeting with most of the government ministers present which was broadcast live on TV. It was packed full. People got a chance to ask them questions ... DH said it'd been pretty good. A lot of people want an election and new people running the place ... I was busy getting the girls to bed so I didn't follow it. The good news is that I bought Bran Flakes at a decent price yesterday and the coconut flakes I love to sprinkle on top that haven't been available for the past 6 weeks or so are back :-) lol Made my day! Doesn't take much to make me happy! lol

Kelli - Nice! Something weird about a november cactus outside though ;-) lol

Another re-run ... also from December last year. Around 11 am.

Have a great day everyone!

Selma' November cactus is flowering now :-) It gets virtually no care, she never remembers to water it, so it dries out completely between waterings ;-) lol It did get a bigger pot as a reward for budding so nicely, it was in a tiny pot I'd bought it in two or three years ago when it was also tiny to fit the pot ;-) lol Last year it dropped all the buds, because she remembered to water and was a bit too generous with it ;-) lol

And I thought I'd share with you our "back to basics" dinner last night (sorry it's so blurry) ... It's become a weekly thing. Rice pudding with cinnamon sugar, "liver sausage" which is made from ground liver and sheep's lard, pickled herring and icelandic rye bred with butter of course... The "liver sausage" is bought ready made ... I don't make it from scratch. But I have memories from my childhood of helping with cleaning out sheep's stomachs which were used as the material for the "bag" ... now there are synthetic bags on the market. They were cut to size after cleaning and stitched together (my grandmother used to do the sowing) and then they were filled with the chopped liver, lard, rye mixture or blood, rye, lard mixture. I also have memories of a potful of blood cooking on the stove ... I wasn't too fond of the "blood sausage" ... I prefer the liver kind, although I can't eat much of it - too much fat for my taste.

The night before we had icelandic lobster which I forget the proper name of and beef so it's not all doom and gloom ;-) lol Hadn't had a steak for over a month though ... sooooo good :-)

I feel sorry for my own country as I grew up from 1937 to date and have never seen money situations like they are today. When we were young, we were poor, but didn't know any better. We had loving parents and a secure extended family. I don't know how most of the US citizens will handle the fact that things are rough, and getting rougher. (Those born between 1948 - to date).

What people do not realize is that it is not the end of the world in tough financial times. They need to turn to family, and put aside what they would like to buy and concentrate on what they need to do to keep all fed and warm.

Yes, Katie's jacket came home with her today. Yayyy! I called the school this morning... Yesterday she came home saying "Fire was coming out!" and "It was very very noisy!" She wouldn't answer any questions about what the noisy thing was that had fire coming out, so I asked the school receptionist... They had a fire drill. LOL

LOL at the squirrel, Sharon!! That is a VERY pink house behind you!

Deb, those little titmice are sooo cute. :-) Have you seen scutler's threads about the one that has ravaged her house and pulled hairs out of her head? Too funny...

Yayyy for the rain, Kelli!

Today I'm trying to catch up on laundry (how does it multiply like that??) and working on some cross-stitched dish towels. On my side of the family, my siblings and parents draw names and do a Christmas gift exchange, and then everyone buys for all the kids. We've have running bouts of car trouble this fall, so we're pretty short on cash. I have my mom's name, and my husband has my sister, so I'm working on these towels... Mom's are almost done; and then I need to decide if I want to do the intricate grape-vines-climbing-up-the-pillars pattern for my sister, or something not so pretty but still cute, that I can whip out really fast instead. LOL I need to start cooking stuff for tomorrow, too. We're going to Charles' sister's house, just an hour or so north of here. It should be fun. :-)

The bunnies are playing outside. The little one was off school today and was obviously happy about sleeping in. She woke up humming, which was really cute. :-)

Have a great Thanksgiving, everyone! I am very thankful for every one of you. :-)

Wishing everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving. I've posted some of singer/songwriter Greg Brown's work here before. Here's a song about his grandmother that kind of fits the occasion.

Canned Goods

Let those December winds bellow 'n' blow
I'm as warm as a July tomato.
Peaches on the shelf
Potatoes in the bin
Supper's ready, everybody come on in

Taste a little of the summer,
Taste a little of the summer,
You can taste a little of the summer
My grandma's put it all in jars.

Maybe you're weary an' you don't give a
I bet you never tasted her blackberry jam.

Taste a little of the summer,
Taste a little of the summer,
You can taste a little of the summer
My grandma's put it all in jars.

Ah, she's got magic in her - you know what I mean
She puts the sun and rain in with her green beans.

Taste a little of the summer,
Taste a little of the summer,
You can taste a little of the summer
My grandma's put it all in jars.

What with the snow and the economy and ev'ry'thing,
I think I'll jus' stay down here and eat until spring.

Taste a little of the summer,
Taste a little of the summer,
You can taste a little of the summer
My grandma's put it all in jars.

When I go to see my grandma I gain a lot of weight
With her dear hands she gives me plate after plate.
She cans the pickles, sweet & dill
She cans the songs of the whippoorwill
And the morning dew and the evening moon
'N' I really got to go see her pretty soon
'Cause these canned goods I buy at the store
Ain't got the summer in them anymore.
You bet, grandma, as sure as you're born
I'll take some more potatoes and a thunderstorm.
Peaches on the shelf
Potatoes in the bin
Supper's ready, everybody come on in,

Taste a little of the summer,
Taste a little of the summer,
Taste a little of the summer,
My grandma put it all in jars.

Let those December winds bellow and blow,
I'm as warm as a July toad.

EB, loved your 'grandmother song'.
Wow, you really are having winter weather. Stay safe and drive carefully with that precious burden. We have been luckier here with highs in about 32-34 degrees. What snow fell from the lake effects melted and our highway crews were out salting and putting down anti-skid. We have had high winds yesterday and today - making it unpleasant outside. I only went out to hang and refill bird feeders.

We are scheduled for better weather Thanksgiving day, and a beautiful "Black Friday" for the shopping addicts. Looks good here until Monday's snowfall to start out the work week.

Adina a Yam (Dioscorea batatas) is like a sweet potato but much sweeter and has a higher moisture content.
In Spain they are called Boniata.
The tuber looks like it's covered in bark.
If either is it or Sweet Potatoes can be found there you can easily grow your own crop for next year.
Both have a pretty vine but rarely flower.
They are MUCH easier to make pies and casseroles w/ than squash or pumpkins.

Going for 55 here today and SUNNY!

Some clouds, blue skies and a little sunshine here today! Our latest "lake effect" snow warning ended last night at 10:00 pm with not too much accumulation. Last weekends storm was much worse and some towns in my area received over nearly a foot of snow in less then 2 hours on Friday morning alone. (according to the local newspaper) The extended forecast calls for 10 days of snow showers and temps in the low 30's.

Marylyn...I don't miss driving in the snow either. I need to find some nice southern family to adopt me from Nov. through March! My daughter attends the state university 20 miles north of here.

Ric...On Thanksgiving I skip the mashed potatoes and go straight for the yams!

I am in beautiful Harrison, AR at my daughter's house. I had a minor meltdown
yesterday so my daughter and her husband came and got me after a trip to the ER to have a brain scan and EKG--everything checked out okay--it was just anxiety which caused the whole thing--I was keeping it bottled up instead of letting it go. Anyway, Harrison is a beautiful little city in the mountains of NW Arkansas, the air is clear and clean and crisp and it is very peaceful up here. I'll be here through Sunday then back home on Sunday afternoon. Have to get busy next week tying up the legal aspects of my DH's death.

I didn't realize I had been away from this thread for so long. I don't have time to comment on everything but just wanted to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE! I've enjoyed all your photos., Rann, can't say I would enjoy your liver sausage--any kind of liver makes me gag! LOL

We have had two days of absolutely gorgeous weather in the 60's during the day, cooler at night.
No complaints weather-wise here.

Every one have a good week=end.

Good morning!

It's 28F, sun is out and the wind has eased up a little, still quite blustery though.

Marsue - hope you have a good weekend of rest at your daughter's house. Ditto to what Ric said, words of wisdom there :-) I'd have been very surprised if you'd found the liver sausage thing appetizing ;-) lol Still, it's better than the blood sausage ;-) I think most of traditional icelandic "quisine" is not just an acquired taste, but something you have to have been raised with ;-) lol And even then it's not that good, once you've had a taste of something better...

Hope you are all enjoying your holiday weekend. I have to get busy ... lots to do today ... The fibromyalgia has been giving me a hard time for the past 3 weeks. This time the "breathing" muscles, i.e. the muscles you use to breath with are packed in a knot and won't do their job properly so I've been short of breath to put it mildly. Last week it got so bad that I had to take a break from the swimming (which I think contributed to the mess since I got a bit ahead of myself resulting in a total meltdown of said muscles...) I haven't been able to do much of anything for the past week, tried taking anti-inflamatory pills, but my stomach can't handle those ... so to make a very long story short, I'm having to make do with very shallow breaths ... it's very unpleasant to say the least. The problem is I don't have time for this now with Christmas a month away! There's too much to do. This sunday is the first sunday in Advent, so it's time to get the lights up and the wreath ready ... and the advent calendar for the girls ... so I better get cracking ;-) lol

Sunset from two years ago - early december 2006.

Hope you all have a GREAT day!

Thinking of all my friends here today. We had ANOTHER death in the family. Wednesday night my Uncle Kent passed away. He was mom's last surviving sibling. So much sadness this year. I have to call and find out when the funeral is. I haven't been able to reach Aunt Betty yet so I don't know how she is.

I don't eat liver. I don't dislike it, but I wonder about it's healthfulness. The liver of an animal filters toxins out of the blood, and with all of the junk they give livestock these days, I would imagine that the livers are full of unhealthful things. I guess I could get organic liver somewhere, but I don't like it enough to bother.

Once in a blue moon, my grandma would get Braunschweiger and I liked that. I was going to get some at the store here one time and I put it back. I don't remember why - too high fat content maybe.

Started out warm in the low 50s but the temps went down to low 40s before sun went down. Was gloomy all day long and the air felt wet, like there was snow coming in or something.

Went shopping today. Thought we would be *smart* and go closer to lunch time and avoid the crowds. That didn't happen. In fact I think its safe to say we would have been better off being early birds. We went to Independence, MO and it took 30 mins to go a half mile when we reached town. At one point we sat at one light while it changed at least 7 times. It was so bad I wouldn't even call it a madhouse. lol

Celia, I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle...(((HUGS))). Sometimes they all seem to come at once. :( You are in my prayers.
Marylyn, The Bobcat is very common in this area. They are beautiful & very large. An adult can weigh 30 lbs. or more. I have heard of one that weighed almost 40! They can be hunted here as varmints. They're not near the pest that the coyote is. I would send DH shopping too. Black Friday is not the day I wish to go out. Too many people! :D
Marsue, Sorry to hear about your anxiety attack. No more caffeine for you! ;) Well...that was the cause of mine. Please take care of yourself. Thoughts are with you...
Sharon, I hope you are feeling better! Can you talk yet? My DH wouldn't know how to act if I lost my voice! ;) You can bet that I would be laughed at! :D I Love the new table! It's a bummer tho...I know you want it for before Christmas! ;) I know that I would! :D BTW, Those squirrels are Hilarious! LOL I could spend all day watching them!
Rusty, Your kitchen is a great color! So cheery! :D
Deb, I love you door 'accent'! You are quite talented! :D
Adina, ALL! of you flowers are Gorgeous! Especially the Hibiscus! I Love the color! :D
Kelli, I really like the fire brick that was used! Neat fireplace! I know that you were happy to get 'out & about'. Are those trees Osage Orange? Maybe not. They are neat in rows like that, tho. I'm still thinking about your Yellow Stone trip & all of the gorgeous waterfalls! :D
Rann, I hope that you get to feeling better, soon. Please don't over do things. Take care.
Ric, I've never heard of those concoctions, but they don't sound very appetizing. I'll just eat potted meat. You room is really coming along! :D
E_B, Glad that you & DD had a safe trip home. I want that kind of snow for Christmas! I have plans for JW! :D
Se_eds, I think that we're gonna get some of the white stuff here in the next few days...will you get any? Are you still feeling OK? Take care...

Well, it's getting late...past my bed time.
Nite All!

Kwanjin, Happy Birthday!! Hope you are having a wonderful day!!!

Thanks Marylyn! My sky picture didn't turn out, but I was amazed to see Adina and I took the exact same red and orange horizon!! I thought it looked like jello layers. Even the moon was the same, till I zoomed out.

As Kwanjin said, ''We're all on the same planet, we all see the same sun, we all share this life.'' (I was so impressed with this, I put it on notepad and saved it.)

Kiska, a big smile for your dragon!!

Celia, Happy Birthday ! Have a wonderful day!
Ric, it's almost done ! Is that the insulation usually used in US?
Rann, I hope you feel better soon with all the work you have to do! Can't wait to see the lights!
Kelli, about the liver...we are eating it on grill or fried in a pot with oil and it's delicious ! My DH wouldn't eat liver either and , when he ate a good one in a restaurant, it became a usual meal for him too. The liver is healthy to eat, especially grilled, very good for people having anemia ...and red wine too! I made a research and found this link for you , if you want more info:

Kiska, you're back! Aren't you afraid of lizards anymore? More pics please!
Deb, gorgeous picture of the maple leaf, what a red !

Rusty, love that color!

Adina, thank you for the link on liver. I'm glad to know that it isn't full of toxins. The anti-fatigue aspect is extremely interesting, especially seeing as I am exhausted today.

Joey, the trees are Chinese pistache, I think.

Kiska, does it seem extra cold in Alaska now since you've just come from Hawaii?

Guess by tomorrow morning we will have either snow or ice/rain mix from the moisture coming up from the south. The past two days were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Kiska those ARE some impressive Lizards eh?
I actually got to hold a just hatched one down at the Cincinnati Zoo.
He was part of the second clutch hatched outside Indonesia.
AND I still have all my fingers! LOL!
You look GREAT sitting there by the Beach!

Adina what a pretty sky!
Pink Insulation (Dow Corning) is what's usually used in the walls and ceilings.
It's a fiberglass insulation.
That and rockwool (the yellow stuff) are very cheap and effective, but itchie!
Attics here they usually blow in a paper based product.

I started Icing the Cake!
The blue stuff you see here is a styrofoam based board insulation.
It's has just a minor R Value but every bit helps.
Not sure what to do in that blank area yet.
We're tossing around ideas.

And it isn't as 'itchie' as fiberglass.

Still snow just tiny flurries today...

Adina - Rusty was 8 wks old I has him at May Adopt Pet's Day in 2003 in California so he has tail then he bit his tail's tip about 1-1/2 inches off wow he got something snap him then he chase his tail circle so I took him to Vet and having his tail cut off so still chase his hind legs which he bit and pull his hairs! Ouch! So, he been good housebroken and very good guard dog which he won't bite but he did bite me my hand and sure I slap him hard not to bite me again and training him so he learn quickly! So, He is now 5 yrs old...
Yes, he is mixed cattle, little bit of Rott color and shepherd. Look at his head is cattle shape ear point up good and black mark on forehead. He is more like rusty...So, I name him Rusty. I raise him to be good dog. Rusty is waiting for chase squirrel that why he sit and stand in snow he don't mind how cold is!

I'm very happy it's not 142 where you are. I'm glad it isn't where I am, either! LOL

Ric, looking great! It'll be nice to have all that much more space.

I love all these animal shots! Adina, Rita looks like she walked up to the fence that way! LOL Sharon, Boo looks like she couldn't care less. :-) What a handsome dog Rusty is.

3 F Sunrise at 9:47 this morning. Clear and cold with freezing fog in some areas.
Forecast:
Mostly sunny.
Temperatures steady zero to 10 above. Variable wind to 10 mph.
rann~the portrait is beautiful. It's been wonderful seeing your girls growing up.
MySharona~sounds as if it's winter there w/winds and cool weather. Now, 142, that's an attention-getter. (glad it's just an error).
kelli~ a sonic-boom is also an attention-getter; especially if you're not expecting it. Like ric, I too, recall hearing them when in Calif as a child.
I find it was harder to get used to being warm all the time in Hawaii, rather than getting used to the cold again here.
pepper~looks wintery and cold.
adina~cute name for Rita; she's cute,too.
ric~the project looks great; nice to be coming to the end and start utilizing the hours put in on it. The shake siding is great. Thanks, too.
kwanjin~ wow~ thanks for that; now I know that's also what we saw while in Hawaii. Beautiful. The pic was from our balcony.
rusty~ rusty lives up to his name; such a pretty rusty color.
It seemed unusual to see Christmas decorations w/out snow.
