External Hard Drives suggestions

Clinton, MD(Zone 7a)

I am in the market for an external HD because my photo gallery is getting larger by the day. I have backed up or saved all of my pics to DVDs until I can get an Ext HD. Well I plan to continue to save them to DVDs as an additional backup source.

What I want to know is can you'll suggest a quality Ext HD? I'd appreciate any links if possible.

I tried to search just now but the search function has been temporarily disabled.

Thanks

My 3 external hard drives are all Seagate and I haven't had any problems with them (yet). I do a full back up once a week and a back up of photos every time I download from a camera.

The nice thing is they continue to get larger and cheaper all the time.

What size do you have and what do they cost you if you don't mind providing that info. And where's the best place to get them?

Thanks

I got my first one at Sam's Club to back up a new desktop. It was 400 GB and was $250 back in early 2006. I was so pleased with it that I bought another one to back up 3 laptops. Then last year they had a 500 GB for $150 (price went down and size went up) so I could have two back ups for the desk top (paranoid about hard disk crashes after my experiences with older drives). Now you can get the same size for around $100 and a 750 GB for $140 or so. I got all mine at Sam's Clubs but you can find them at most office supply stores, Circuit City (if it hasn't closed in your area), Best Buy, etc.

Even Walmart has 1 TB and 1.5 TB for sale.

Here is Best Buy for example (seems a little higher than Sam's but not too far off).

I have been researching the Western Digital units but found them to be unreliable according many reviews out there and it has only a 1 yr. warranty. I will look at the Seagate.
Thanks.
