Thanks for the new thread, Sharon ! Beautiful tree!
Kiska, the tree in Hawaii was so huge, but so beautiful !
Celia, Rita and 2 other doggies were really climbing the fence two months ago...I don't remember if I posted about them back then. I took them all inside a couple of nights, when it was raining...then , they got sick...3 of them, one after another and I couldn't let them out, so they all stayed in Buck's cottage I've already made. They didn't have their cottage done yet and they kept on coming, even if it was warm outside and it didn't rain...and after I made their cottage too !LOL They were still small and could come through the gate bars. Then, we put some wires, so they couldn't come through, but they learned to climb on the wires like on a stair...they were too cute!
Here's their first attempt! Rita is the one with the head in, on the left !LOL

Rusty, your dog is so handsome ! You did good letting him know who is the master...I know how hard can be a bite on your hand with those huge teeth ! My beloved Boss, who was a German Shepherd, always made me some marks on my hands when we were playing...God forbid he would have bit me for real!

Rusty I love Rustys story. Hes a handsome dog.
Celia All Boo does is watch. She doesnt try to catch any of the birds or squirrels. Cool planet pic!
Kiska I like the tree and gift boxes! At least it gets cool/cold(ish) here for Christmas (most of the time).
Adina Your babies are so cute! I know you miss your Boss. I miss him too. He would never have bitten you - he loved you as much as you loved him :)

Thank you on the tree. I've made some adjustments since I took that picture on Friday. I'll have to take a new picture.

Still cold, only got to 35 today and partly cloudy all day. Now it is Dyson Dark and there is still a bit of snow on the ground. It will all disappear tomorrow due to warming temps then come back again on Weds.

Cumulus- I sure could use that rocket launcher around here. It might actually keep the neighbor's dogs and cats plus the raccoons and opposums out of our yard. LOL

Love the new thread/photo, MySharona. The angel collection is so pretty.
3:43 pm was sunset, so it's dark again already. Was a beautiful day; the temp dropped to 1F and is due to keep going down to Minus 10F as the clear ~cold settles in. Need to check for Northern Lights tonight ~ conditions seem to be just right.
The deck continues to Pop and Crack with every few degrees drop. Kinda keep track of the temp through the popping.
My son/family went ice fishing and had good luck.
Adina~the puppies sure brought a smile as I saw them...Boss was certainly beautiful.
Cumulus~very "cool" kitty house.

Rusty, I think you have an outstanding animal. He certainly looks intelligent.

Welcome Cumulus79.

We had over an inch of rain yesterday. With temps at 37 we were glad it was an inch of rain and not a foot of snow. Although I am over the pneumonia, I do not relish the thought of running the snow blower just yet. LOL
Few showers today, temps about 35 - a breakthrough of sunshine this afternoon. Not bad at all!!
we are told that a cold front is coming down through Michigan and will chill us down right good.

Good morning!

It's seems to be cloudy this morning, 29F and just a light breeze blowing. Sunrise will be at 10:50 and sunset at 3:45 pm. According to the forecast, there is a possibility of some white stuff later today :-)

Celia - very cool photos of the moon and planets :-)

Rusty - Rusty is a handsome fellow :-)

Adina - very cute puppy photos :-)

Sharon - your tree looks great :-)

Cumulus - very COOL igloo :-) I'm surprised you had enough snow to make one!

Kiska - very nice photo of you and the Christmas decorations ... I totally agree, warm weather and Christmas decorations don't go together ;-) lol I found it very hard to get into the "spirit" when we lived in Florida ... one year we sprayed fake snow on the windows ... it still didn't feel right ;-) lol

Another re-run from last December ...

Hope you all have a great day!

Thanks for the warm (cool?) welcomes :)
As it looks like there won't be many snow tomorrow, but some showers which will result in deep blue skies and nice cloud formations for photography.

Strange thing happening in my climate zone is that during 1980-1990 snow heights were decreasing year after year when it came to snow, but the snow remained for several days to more than a week
1990-2000 very few snow, but sometimes lasting cold weather like january 1997
2000 - today: more and thicker snow again, but even when there's half a feet of snow in the morning, everything was gone before evening. The iglo on the first pic couldnt be completed because all of the snow was allready gone the morning after and the iglo collapsed. I'm curious what this winter will bring the upcoming months...

Dyson dark, or the closest we get to it. BTW, if we have Dyson dark, should we also have Kiska cold?

Fudge... yum!!! Rusty, do you need a sister in CA? ;-)

Yesterday when I went to the store, I got some liver. I was surprised at how inexpensive it was ($1.99/lb.). I had never made it before and I never watched anyone else make it, so I had to use the cookbook. It was easy. I found that if I cut it into strips and cooked it rare (outside browned, inside still red), it didn't taste liver-y. However, some people might not like the consistancy. It was kind of jello-ish.

20F Dyson Dark for a few more hours this morning;
A chance of snow or freezing rain in the afternoon.
Highs in the 20s. Northeast wind 10 to 20 mph with local gusts to 30 mph.
The jump from Zero to 20 overnight is a huge increase; generally the temp varies by only a few degrees day in and day out.
MarylynT_X~ I, too, love seeing the moose and so glad to have DG on which to share; thanks. Frosty in Texas and Florida; do the bunnies enjoy the change?
rann~sounds like a good day to be indoors with a good book. Thanks, too.
MySharona~ the light from the window looks beautiful with the frosty roof. Very pretty.
kelli~"jello-like" is a bit of a turnoff, but you've given me the nudge to try liver again. Maybe deep-fried:)) "Kiska cold" hmmmm, need to think about that::))
kwanjin~the cloud formations are gorgeous. Did they bring the snow? At 38, it's getting close isn't it?

Sharon, I love your pics with Sylvester and the woodpecker, so cute! I hope Jeff feels better soon!
Kiska, great snow pics! Love the moose...they are begining to be like domestic animals !
Celia, great shot of the moon and Venus and Jupiter ! Last night I actually saw them too, but my camera doesn't get too good pics at night...they were so cool, I never would have known they were those planets if you haven't told us, thanks! Beautiful morning sky !
Ric and Robyn, nice job, it's great to see it done, step by step!
Pepper, great shots of the snowy cone flowers and Whiskers! Can we see the tree too? How is your mom?
Rusty, you already have many sisters here...need one more in Romania?LOL Still, I need to google the fudge to see what is it!LOL Poor step son, 2 times cheated !
Cumulus, cool pics, welcome ! You are funny!
Kelli, love those poinsettias! I'm glad you ate liver...did you fried it in oil? Did you have pork or beef liver? I cut it in slices, thick as the thumb and fry it in a bit of oil, on a slow fire, for 5 minutes on one side. Then, turn the slices and pour a bit of water and leave it for another 5 minutes. Remember, you mustn't put salt when cooking, only at the end, when it's done, otherwise it turns too hard. I also love the chicken livers, same cooking, without water, in a pad. Liver is delicious on grill , you should try it too! In Romania, whenever someone has anemia, they are recommended to eat grilled liver or beefsteak.
Se_eds, better take pics than blowing snow!
Rann, it's pretty cold at your place!
It's been foggy and wet arround here, just yesterday the sun came out. They are forecasting big warming up until Saturday, 64 from 51 today...hmmmm, looks like spring coming !LOL
This is how it looked like yesterday morning...Buck was running here and there , up on the fence to see the other doggies!LOL

Okay, 5 peoples want my recipe! Here's in Dave's forum Recipes:

Remarkable Fudges:

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/563757/

Put unsalted butter only in pan heat it up and cover all the inside pan that won't sticky when you cook sugar come last... Keep stiring until temp up to 236* then pour with chocolate chips, marshmallow creme only... Keep stir don't want to get cold again keep quick stirring then put clear wrap around the pan not need to be greased cause it has unsalted butter in it will help easy to take out and pack it up box then send it...

Have a good day!

There are currently flurries outside but it's a very narrow system and it won't last long. It won't accumulate nearly as much as the last one. The wind is gusting like crazy too. I think I will just stay in and finish off the homemade peanut clusters. LOL

Adina, my mom is doing a bit better but it's still lingering.

Woo, I've been away much too long to try and comment on everything.

Celia: I'm so sorry I missed your birthday so here goes: HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!
Also, I'm very sorry to hear about your Uncle's death. You and your family have certainly had a lot of sorrow this year! (((((((((((((((((((((((Hugs))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Ric: you've certainly been busy. Anticipating photos of the finished product.
Rusty: you've been busy, too--very colorful paint choices! :o)) Your dog, Rusty, is very handsome.
Adina: the puppies are adorable.
Rann: sorry the fibromyalgia is giving you troubles--hope you are better now.
Sharon: lovely table--we'll be eagerly awaiting its arrival right along with you!
Kiska, welcome back. Glad you had a good time in Hawaii. That is some Christmas tree--not to mention that HUGE package! LOL Cute photo of the moose, too.
Thank you everyone, for the hugs and "feel better" wishes. I really appreciate all the loving support I have had from my DG friends. I had a restful few days at my daughter's house but I had to come home to reality sooner or later. Now I'm home and there are legalities, etc., to be taken care of--just part of dealing with death, unfortunately. However, I'll get through it as so many have done before me.

No snow here, thank goodness and NO LIVER or anything similar to eat, either! LOL

It's been overcast all day which makes it seem colder than the current temp of 56. Some sunshine would be nice.

Sharon, we get frost like that, too, though usually not at this time of year. You can tell who has poor insulation in the attic because there is no frost on their roofs except on the overhang and garage. (I think this house has more insulation in the attic than my parents' house in PA does.)

Adina, the design on your sheets remind me of textiles that popular in the U.S. in the 1910s and '20s. http://www.annwallace.com/catalog/PrairieTextilesRunners.html

Nice cactus, Marsue.

Great Christmas tree, Pepper. Mine is up but not decorated yet.

It is Dyson dark here at 8:42 pm but not Kiska Kold. Temp was 17 deg on the front porch this AM but warmed up when the sun came up. Got to about 42, gentle winds, sunshine from time to time. Not bad for Dec.3. I do have to fire up my camera ( charge the batteries) LOL.

Things are winding down for the winter. We sorta hibernate here in Pa. ( at least us older ones do). Deer rifle season started Monday and shots are heard early in the mornings. From what I have heard at the local Moose club, a lot were lucky this year. People in this area are very conservative and will carefully clean and package up their venison. We also have a program where hunters can share their harvest with local food banks. The local deer butcher shops often are gifted with a whole carcass as the hunter only wanted the head. At least this way that high protein venison is used by families who have a hard time including meat in their grocery cart, instead of being left to rot in the forest.

I have hunted and processed deer myself for a lot of years and have a very hard time with 'trophy' hunters, and those who kill for the sport and waste the meat. Too many hungry people out there to waste nature's bounty. (Must be my old age showing up again).

Supposed to get cold here soon and some snow Thursday. Hope the guy comes to fix the garage door. Press the button and both doors go up. Press it again and both doors go down. I have the instructions to fix it and a toll free number to get step by step instructions on which screw to turn to fix it. However, I am no good on ladders with a screwdriver and neither is my 82 yr. old husb. I'll pay the price to get it fixed and save a broken hip. LOLOL

Se-eds: sorry about the garage doors but you are correct--it's best to pay somebody to repair them rather than find yourself falling off a ladder!

I had myself a good cry this morning while going through Buddy's clothes. I'm not telling you this to make you feel sorry for me--it's just a necessary part of the grieving process and I feel somewhat better now. Well, we spent 6 hours at the hospital with Darrell's mom last night. She had chest pains and pain near her liver. No heart attack, thank goodness. D didn't get much sleep but he says he's okay. We'll see when he gets home this afternoon. I went this morning and had to talk her into getting a stress test. She was all for it last night and today, dug in her heels. She's a tough one. D is there now, so I'll find out later what happened after I left.

Sunset tonight.

Thanks for the hugs, Kelli and Celia and for the hand-holding, Sharon. I can feel them now :o))

Kelli, that is a beautiful tablecloth. Your mother will cherish it! Is is a Christmas gift or have you already given it to her?

Sharon: lovely "frosty rose". I know just what you need: an "asafidity bag". My grandmother used to talk about having to wear one when she was a child. Evidently they smelled so bad that one would get well just to be able to remove the awful thing from around one's neck! I copied this info off the internet: "Asafetida, called asafidity in the South, is a chemical that is
semi-solid and indeed was worn, usually in a small cloth bag, around the
neck to ward off colds and flu. If there is any proof that it actually does
that, I don't know about it."

Pepper: it's cold here, too, and I don't like it . Kelli's temp of 64 this morning sounded pretty good to me!

Celia: pretty silhouette of the trees in the sunset.

Currently 38 and heading toward 26 tonight. BRRRR!

kelli - beautiful work on the embroidery.
Marsue, bless you, doing the things that needs to be done and sharing parts of your beloved husband's life with those who can benefit from it. It will be so hard for me to do that, if that time comes. I hope you can feel our arms around you and our prayers for peace, acceptance and God's grace upon you.

Another Early Dec day that was neither Dyson Dark nor Kiska Kold - guess it was just Gussie grey. LOL Misty rain and temps in the mid 30's. We got the garage doors fixed, chased the chill with a roaster full of sauerkraut and pork and mashed potatoes. = Even the garage door fixer.

Tomorrow we are going to live, love and laugh.

Kelli that's a first class and beautiful job!
Your Mom has a perfect gift coming and I see a Family Heirloom setting there.

Cold here today but little wind and a nice clear day so actually it felt pretty good out there.
Currently 28 (Wind Chill 19)

Robyn just about finished the ceiling insulation today.
The new room is actually the most insulated place in the house now.
(80 year old solid brick houses are not very energy efficient)
We have to pull some wire before Robyn can finish the ceiling but it is already feeling toasty in there!
W/ just a small oil filled heater and the sunshine it was 68 out there this afternoon.
So a 30 difference from outside.

Oh yeah and she managed to get all the tools rounded up from the various hiding places in the rest of the house.
I foresee a few hours of reorganization coming... LOL!
BUT I can finally move around and see a floor in the computer room!

Good morning! It's a grey, chilly day here. The wind was blowing hard last night, and now most of the leaves are off of our Mexican plum tree and the crepe myrtles. Some years they don't fall off until spring. I'm happy to have the free mulch. :-) The neighborhood oak trees haven't dropped many of their leaves yet. I need to watch for the bags of raked leaves when they do fall.

Celia, I thought that cat photo was a cloud at first glance. LOL

Rann, that sunset photo is gorgeous. :-)

Rusty, yummmm... I think I gained a pound just looking at your photos!

Hmmm, sounds like it is winter across the ole' USA and in Iceland and Romania. Our temps crawled up slowly to 29 degrees. Not too much wind so it was bearable. Usually is not this cold this time of the year. Our bitter temps have been occurring from Dec 15th to Jan 15th the last 2/3 years. I think -20 (F) was last year after Dec. 17th.

Stopped at our local Moose Club today for my Coca cola. Learned from a friend he got his walking papers as did 29 others at his Harrisburg, Pa. factory. He had been there 37 years and is understandably distressed. The factory makes airplane parts ( machine shop).

Been a busy day/getting packages in the main and on their way down; a plate in the kiln, and time now to be online and catch up.
Sunset was at 3:38, so it's been dark for some time now; it's harder to see the falling mix of snow and rain from these higher temps.
28F/ calm, dark, with Gussie Grey most of the day.
kelli~your embroidery is beautiful; what a special gift for your mother.
rann~hope the holiday season is brighter than what's gone on for the past month or so. At least, the sky is doing all it can to bring color and joy to the winter.
Marsue~ what a heartbreaking job, but please keep posting your thoughts and day to day~ keeping you in my thoughts, daily.
MySharona~ very nice pic~ wish I had a get well soon remedy for you; how about good old vicks?
kwanjin~hope you've got some good news/MIL; how difficult to be going through this.
bp~ Hope the snow is what you want; sure makes for a beautiful landscape. Hawaii w/ Christmas decorations was very beautiful.
se_eds~sorry to hear of all the layoffs; very distressing for those involved. Dinner sounded great.
rusty~great fudge demo-can almost smell the chocolate. A 3 year old grandson; an age of fun and action:))
pepper23~rain, sleet, snow; the mail must be tended to:)))
henryr~great to know that it's nearly time to start thinking of reorganizing; the insulation is certainly doing a great job with 30 difference.
MarylynT_X~ free mulch in exchange for wind sounds like a good trade.

This wild rose blooming out of season reminds me of the song "Gesu Bambino".

"When blossoms flowered mid the snow upon a winter night
Twas born the Child the Christmas rose, the king of love and light..."

And ended here.
The walls are covered in wood as they will be sheathed in a thin tongue and groove paneling.
Plus this will probably be a high water area.
Plants should winter will here..

Kelli that looks like one of those "What's With that House" places! WOW!

Adina I have to say Buck is turning into quite a handsome brute.
Not a dog I'd like to tangle w/...!

se_eds we had the wind a bit last night.
A few pretty good blasts for sure when we were in the Hot Tub.
Pretty much your weather today too.
Still though and 21 .
I'd doubt we broke 26 either... but it was Sunny! and actually nice outside.
Maybe an inch of snow on the ground.
They are talking 52 by Tuesday!!!!!

O got the shelves for the Closet cut and trimmed.
Robyn will be sanding and painting them tomorrow.
Then we can finally get this place 'somewhat' organized.
AND
The Window Seat is ready for it's Icing...
5' high and almost 7' long...
That seat IS actually level and straight... the camera wasn't LOL!
