Hi Carrie,

I love the idea of an orange in a Xmas stocking! I guess my parents never thought of it...none of us ever had an orange in our stockings. We are all adults in my household, but still enjoy the fun of hanging stockings. I think I'll have to do it this year and start the tradition. Oranges are full of nutrition too. http://www.sunkist.com/healthy/oranges.asp

Best Wishes for a Happy & Healthy Holiday!
Thanks for an interesting article :)

My gosh, Diana, you totally missed out on what is probably the healthiest Christmas tradition of all! Do it, do it! And happy St. Nicholas Day, by the way!

Our stockings were always filled with oranges, apples and nuts with just a few pieces of chocolate. I tried to do the same for our kids but they got a bit more candy. And the grand kids...well they would think it crazy to have an orange in their stocking! Another tradtion that is dissappearing.

Yeah, that is sad. And in Walgreens you find those chocolate oranges my father got, only the less expensive version, I guess. They could try a Clementine... and including part of the story of St. Nicholas.
