I was away from home most of the week-end so it makes it hard to catch up. You all have some great photos posted and that fudge looks great, Rusty!

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. Here's a link to some photos that were taken at my birthday party on Saturday night--given for me by the two young women named Michelle. They gave me the little schnauzer for my birthday. His name is Friday because they found him on the internet on Friday and had him flown in from Texas on Saturday. I've been celebrating my birthday since Friday--thanks to family and good friends! I'm winding it up tonight by attending my DGD's Christmas band concert at the high school.

Good morning! Our church's ladies' Bible study was done for the fall after last Tuesday, so the class I was in decided to have a get-together brunch this morning. One of the ladies invited everyone to her house - and her house is only about a mile away from here, so I suggested everyone drop their kids off at my house to play while the moms chitchat. We're going to make little ornaments and wreaths. If everyone comes (but they won't) and drops off all of their kids (I expect the littlest babies to stay with their mommies), we'll have 16 kids here. Should be fun! ^_^ Originally I was thinking about taking them outside to the back yard part of the time, but it rained last night and there is a 40% chance of rain today, too.

It's nice outside right now, but there is a cold front coming through sometime today. I hope it isn't cold(er) by the time the little bunny gets home from school.. Since it was already 71 this morning, I sent her off in a t-shirt and capris. If the cold front hits before 2:15, she may be a little chilly on the bus. Of course, they do have one of her jackets at school again, so they can bundle her up if they think of it. (And hopefully they would!)

GREAT shots, Ric, Rann, Celia, Kiska, Pepper--reminds me of winter--LOL!!

Sharon, it's a good thing you have Boo around for protection. I think my little man Friday is going to prove to be a good "protector", too. So far I have had to put all my plants up off the floor as he has tried to protect me from all of them! LOL--not to mention the throw rugs in the kitchen and baths!

Woo--Marylyn--what were you thinking? 16 kids? Oh, my! It's a good thing only 6 showed up or we would be sending a search party out for you!!--LOL

Current temp 59 and cloudy. It started the day out with rain. Now the rain has stopped and it is just "damp". It will be a much cooler 39 for a high tomorrow. Possible snow flurries in the morning but they aren't supposed to last.

If all 16 kids had shown up, we still would have had fun... but I would be a lot more tired now! LOL As it was, with only 6 kids, everything was very calm for the most part. The 2 boys (ages 5 & 6) entertained each other very well (in other words they made lots of silly noises and a variety of toys flew, fell, and flipped, but nothing broke LOL); the 2 toddlers (both just 2) toddled around the house scattering stuffed animals, balls, and small cars as they went; and the 2 older girls (my 7 year old and a 9 year old) decorated ornaments and watched a movie. Piece of cake. :-) The cats were rather traumatized by the invasion... The 2 toddlers followed them around saying, "Here, meow!" "Kitty tat!!" "Awww... kitty soft." I had the sun room doorway blocked off with a baby gate so they could escape from the poking and prodding when it got to be too much. LOL

It's still 62 out there.. the temp has a lot of falling to do before we get to our expected upper 30s.

Marilyn, Friday is really cute!! It's wonderful that he is already doing such a great job of (ahem) protecting you. :-)

Good morning!

It's raining today, 42F, slightly breezy now, but very windy last nigh ... yeah, the snow's gone :-( The girls were sooooo disappointed when they woke up this morning, especially Hildur Eva ... you'd think it was the last snow of the winter! lol There'll be more where that came from I pretty sure, possibly as soon as Sat.

Gorgeous daisies Sharon!

Marylyn - you are brave to invite 16 kids over, I'm exhausted just thinking about it!! LOL Sounds like plenty of action with just the 6. LOL at the cats, I can just picture their expressions :-) lol

Pepper - sounds like a big mess!

The girls made this snowman yesterday, he's shrunk considerably since last night ... I suspect that's what upset them the most. The sign reads "Welcome, Merry Christmas".

Hope you have a GREAT day! And stay warm, those of you who are in the freezer ;-)

I think Houston moved north while we were sleeping! Yesterday at this time it was 71. This morning it's 35 and drizzly. Ick. I'll take it over your black ice, though, Pepper! Yuck! Our forecast calls for possible sleet or flurries today... Probably won't happen. We get 1 or 2 of those forecasts every year and people panic and start calling into work 3 days early, and then it all goes north of here and we get rain. It's a good thing, though, that the panicky people aren't on the roads, just in case. :-)

LOL at Friday!! :-)

Through mid morning, periods of light rain will continue. There could be a little bit of sleet or flurries mixed in later this morning as colder air moves in aloft. Surface temperatures will remain above freezing, including roadways, so other than wet roadways, no accumulations or ice will complicate transportation issues.

This is Flash, checking out the dining room. He spent a lot of time on that chair, tucked under the tablecloth, hoping no one would notice him. I was trying to get a photo of his face peeping out, but when he saw me he sat up.

Just hopping in real quick - here's a receipt I think everyone will enjoy!

***Christmas Tequila Cookies***

1 cup dark brown sugar 1 cup (two sticks) butter
1 cup granulated sugar

4 large eggs
2 cups dried fruit (dried cranberries or raisins)
1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans
2 cups all purpose flour
1 liter bottle Jose Cuervo Tequila (silver or gold, as desired)

First, sample the Cuervo to check quality.
Take a large bowl.

Check the Cuervo to be sure It is of the highest quality.
Pour another 4 ounces in a measuring cup and drink.
Turn on the electric mixer.
Beat one cup of the butter in a large fluffy bowl.
Add one teaspoon sugar. Beat again.
At this point, it is best to make sure the Cuervo is still OK.

Try another 4 ounces, just in case.
Turn off the mixerer thingy.
Break two leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the
cup of dried fruit, picking the fruit off the floor.

Mix on the turner.
If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with a
screwdriver. Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsisticity.
Next, sift 2 cups of salt or shomething.
Check the Jose Cuervo by sympplling thee botttleee.
Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.
Add one table.
Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you canfind.

Greash the oven.
Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.
Don't forget to beat off the turner.
Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the
Cose Juervo and make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher.

Our northern folks and people in the midwest sure have been getting a lot of snow and cold weather. Temps were in the 40's yesterday and are 56 today. It is the result of the storms that raised tornadoes in the south and are moving northward. We will take the extra rain, joyfully to help recharge out water table. Secondly, you do not have to shovel it. LOL

Yesterday we went out to Santa Cruz Island. There were Santa Ana winds, and I think that if the crew knew it was going to be so rough, they would have cancelled the trip. The boat was supposed to stop at two places, Scorpion Ranch and Prisoners Harbor. We wanted to go to Scorpion but it was too rough to let people off there, so everyone had to go to Prisoners. I had never been to either so I can't truely compare them. It sounded like there was more to see at Scorpion, but you get what you get. Over the next couple days I'll show you some pictures.

Sharon, it is called Prisoners Harbor because back in the Mexican days, some prisoners were left there. I don't know if it was intended to go back and get them, but they made a boat and escaped. The book, "Island of the Blue Dolphins" takes place on one of these islands but I don't know which one.

We get only snow once every 5-10 years, actually. The weather forecast said snow this morning, and I was openly scoffing. Serves me right! LOL It snowed all evening while we were at church tonight. We came out to snow on the cars, which was very fun. We had snowball (well, more like snow nuggets!) fights in the parking lot until our car was pretty well cleaned off. Then we came home and played in our yard until the bunnies got too cold. It hasn't been snowing for an hour or so, but the forecast says we may get up to an inch tonight! It's going to get up into the 50s tomorrow, so it'll be gone pretty quickly. It's pretty fun while it lasts! By Sunday it will be back in the mid 70s. ^_^

The little bunny, making more "snowballs." She would say, "Look out, Daddy! And then walk up to about 18 inches away from him and toss it at him, giggling helplessly. It was soooo funny!

The eagerly awaited Yule trolls are on their way :-) The first one will vistit tonight. Hildur Eva put her shoe out in the window 3 days ago, just to be sure she wouldn't forget ... as if!! lol She checked it this morning just to be sure in case they'd have made an early appearance ... it was empty of course. lol For those of you new to this forum since last Christmas, the Yule trolls are the Icelandic version of Santa Claus times 13! The first one comes 13 nights before Christmas and leaves a small treat in shoes the kids put out in the window. If they've been good that is, otherwise it's a potato. Then the rest follows, one each night until Christmas Eve. They are the sons of the troll Grla, who used to snatch naughty kids for her dinner the days before Christmas. Authorities aren't in agreemen on whether she's still alive or not, but she's at least changed her diet drastically. Like their mother, the Yule trolls weren't very nice in centuries past, notorious for stealing food and scaring people. A very nasty bunch really. They've since been remarkably reformed, bring treats instead of stealing and even dress up in the red and white suit for special occations! Stay tuned ;-)

This weekend we have a major storm coming through. We may not go see my DD if it gets really bad...

A STRONG COLD FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO REACH FAR NORTHERN UTAH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT... AND PASS THROUGH THE WASATCH FRONT SHORTLY AFTER SUNRISE SATURDAY MORNING. THE FRONT WILL CONTINUE SOUTH DURING THE DAY SATURDAY... AND EXIT UTAH SATURDAY NIGHT. IN THE WAKE OF THIS FRONT... MUCH COLDER AIR WILL SPREAD ACROSS THE REGION ALLOWING SNOW LEVELS TO FALL TO THE VALLEY FLOORS.
A BAND OF HEAVY SNOW WILL LIKELY ACCOMPANY THIS FRONT AS IT MOVES SOUTH THROUGH THE STATE ON SATURDAY. WITH COLDER AIR RAPIDLY MOVING INTO THE AREA... SNOW WILL LIKELY QUICKLY ACCUMULATE ON AREA ROADS POTENTIALLY MAKING FOR HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS OVER THE WEEKEND. IN ADDITION... STRONG GUSTY WINDS BEHIND THE FRONT MAY RESULT IN WHITE-OUT AND NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS.

We'll be heading East so we might miss the brunt of it.

42* outside. There is some wind so it feels cold still but not as bad as the last few days. The gravel roads are quickly melting and turning into mud pits. The main roads are finally clear and now just waiting on the warm front to come in this weekend. Then snow again Monday.

All in all, a pretty decent day.

Temps in the mid 30's today with lots and lots of rain 2 inches +. I can see it ponding along the front walk - doesn't do that unless we have had 2" here. Thank goodness we received it as rain. 2" of rain would equal 2 feet of snow. Supposed to end as possible snow early tomorrow morning then clear off and Saturday will be beautiful.

Rusty, sorry to hear about your hip.. Winter weather can be so hard on joints.
Ah, I am glad it is almost time for the trolls. What a beautiful holiday tradition.
"White outs and blizzards" sound like things from Michigan, Iowa and Utah. Thank goodness we only get them sporadically.
I hope our plowable snow holds off for a while. Had to go back to the docs to get more Rx for my pneumonia. I hate being housebound - I think it adds to my weakness, but will listen to the doctor - after all, I am paying him for his advice. LOL

Christmas is sneaking closer - I can feel it in the air - and in the busy-ness of our posters. CELEBRATE!

Good morning!

It snowed this morning so now there's a white blanket of snow covering everything once again :-) It makes such a huge difference - it's so horribly dark when there's no snow on the ground. 32F, mostly cloudy now and just a light breeze. We had a big storm blow through last night ... blew over our outside grill. That's never happened before - it's pretty big! The cover's been blown off plenty of times, but never the whole thing! lol I haven't checked it for damage yet - it landed on the grass so I'm hoping it's not too badly dented.

Well, the first troll made it despite the storm and left the girls chockolates. They decided to save them for after school ... very sensible of them... although I have to admit it was my idea ;-) lol

Have a good day everyone!

OK now for the trolls :-) This is a re-run from the last two years ... ;-)

Our Yule trolls are the mischievous and unruly son's of the troll Grla (that liked naughty kids for dinner). There are 13 of them and each one of them had their own favorite "crime" so to speak. They come one at a time, the first one 13 days before Christmas and the last one on Christmas Eve and leave one at a time as well, the first one on Christmas day and the last one on the 13th day of Christmas. When people here were still living in sod houses and spinning wild folk tales in the dark these "Yule lads" didn't bring much joy to people but since then they have been reformed by the jolly white bearded Santa Clause and are now his representatives x13 here in Iceland :-) Kids put their shoe out in their window and if they're good they can expect a small gift in the morning, if not they get a potato.

This is Grla ... she was pronounced dead decades ago, but she keeps popping up here and there and Hildur Eva is convinced she's still alive and kicking ;-) lol

This is the first of the lot, Stekkjastaur. All he can think about is sheeps milk. He just loves the stuff so hes mainly found hanging around sheep barns. Unfortunately, (for him) sheep are not very keen on being milked and to make matters worse his legs are stiff so he gets kicked more often than he gets a drink ;-) Back in his mischievous days, he also enjoyed scaring both the sheep and the people tending to them, so I'm sure going out to the sheep barns in the dark back then was not something to look forward to ...

I'm using the same photos as last year. They're from a wonderful book by Markus Kislich. The artist who drew these beautiful pictures is Anja Kislich.

Great pics, guys! I'm amased you have snow in Texas and Florida and here we still had not even a snowflake! Now it's a very bad storm outside, the wind is howling...we just came home and it almost moved our car off the road...grrrr! Very bad day today...just after we left home this morning I realised I had a flat tire and went to fix it in a car sevice shop. It was nailed and I had to buy a new one...arrghhhh!Then, with the holidays coming, the traffic is so crazy we had to stay more than usual to enter the city...the red light warning for oil lighted and we had to go to the car service again, this time to the one we bought the car from. They kept our car for several hours and finally realised the oil sensor was damaged, although it was enough oil inside...ugh!

27 (Wind Chill 21) going to 19

Beautiful pictures to brighten what turned into a Grey flakie day here...
It should be in the mid 50's by Sunday though...

For those of you lucky enough to have a clear sky tonight the Moon is at perigee.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2008/dec/13/astronomy-space-full-moon

This is the closest it will be for the next 15 years.
At 7:15 this morning it was magnificent!
Just picking up the orange sun glow it looked like the biggest harvest moon I've ever seen.
Tomorrow Moon Set and Sunrise will be at almost the same time here.
Those of you near the ocean this will be a seriously high tide.
GREAT Shelling!

Tomorrow morning we are meeting up w/ dryad57 (Robin) of the ORVG.
We bought two lambs from her Sister.
My G-Father was Greek and I have always loved taste.
So we are putting about 50 pounds in the freezer.
Should make a wonderful Holiday Feast!

Off to the Hot Tub!

BTW Here's what we're doing for the closet doors.
Yes I know they don't quite match... but they were free and will work until we get to Building Values.
They have now been primed.

Kiska, I love your winter lights among the snow. Sure sounds cold ( in degrees) up there.

The Moon is at perigee, its elliptical course is closest to earth as it will get for a long time. I am in an overcast sky zone but have seen some beautiful images on the internet.

Adina, sounds like you are in for a stretchof winter weather. Car troubles always mess your plans

My Sharona, hope Fla warms up for you - I always think of Fla as a 'warm' vacation spot.

Our day of rain ended this morning - we had over 2". Currently 33 and windy. Skies will clear overnight and supposed to be a beautiful day tomorrow. I have been housebound since SUNDAY so will go out and fill bird feeders, do a (very) few things. Time, rest and antibiotics seem to be doing the trick!!)

Kiska, I have never picked or cut toyon. In general, I'd rather leave my plant matter outside attached to the plant, since it lasts longer. However, we do have some branches that are getting pretty unruly on a plant here at home, so after the berries color up all of the way, I may trim it.

Joey, I read that toyon can get something like 25 feet tall, but it seems like around here it stays below 12 feet.

This is the second troll, Giljagaur. Giljagaur sneaks around cow barns since he prefers cow's milk. His favorite is the cream that floats on top. In this drawing he made the mistake of trying to milk the bull which didn't go well ;-) Usually I think he left the milking to the milkmaid and floated the cream off when no one was looking...

Marylyn, the bunnies are so cute playing with snow, it's great they've come to know it! Though it's so unusual for your climate.
Se_eds, I'm sorry you aren't well yet, but it's great the antibiotics are doing you good. Let us know how are you feeling...still tired?
Joey, glad to see you here with little JW on his horsie and the tree! What was his reaction when he saw the tree?
Kiska, wonderful snow, but brrrrr, so cold!
Sharon, beautiful morning rose!
Rusty, glad to hear your hip is better! Poor Rusty, I understand him, my little Buck also stayed inside his doghouse most of the time...the wind has been still very strong!
It's so cold and I had to seal DS' windows because they made a scary noise...they should have been fixed better, but as weare still waiting for the workers to come and fix them, better did something ourselves. Also, had to cover the external blower from the hood ...it came such cold through it ! I'll let it free when I have to cook.

Beautiful, rann~the pink alpenglow on the mountains is gorgeous; such a pretty place and one I'd love to see.
Rusty~the bookcases are a wonderful color; and, so much space to use, too.
Music2Keep~JW's having a great time, wasn't he~what fun for all.
pepper~fantastic sky; hold on to the door::))
adina~keep warm~hope the workers get it fixed soon.
The drive to Anchorage this morning was very nice; I even took a "windshield" shot of the moon. Not that great, but does show the pink and blue sunrise.
Minus 8F and the Colony Days winter parade in Palmer is in a couple of hours. A bonfire to follow. (We're not attending this year).

Good morning!

Another beautiful day here, mostly clear skies and fairly calm. My thermometer says 30F, but it can't be right ... I think it's closer to 23F. I went with Hildur Eva to a piano recital this morning. It was in a church in downtown Reykjavik. It was so beautiful to see all the lights with the snow and afterwards (12 pm) the sunrise was just beautiful. What a great way to start the day :-)

Celia - great photos from the museum. LOL at the pronounciations ... here's a clue :
1. Stekk- (e=envy) ya (a=apple) -staur ( I can't think of a word in english that has this "au" sound ...the closest I can think of would be "Freud")
2. Gil-(i=in) ya- (a=apple) gaur (au=same as above, sort of like Freud)

Kiska - thanks :-) I've never experienced such cold temperatures ...the coldest I've been in was around 5-10F sometime way back when I was a kid.

The third troll made it OK last night, brought the girls more Pet shop pets ... apparantly they make great shoe stuffers ;-)lol This time Selma got a lizard and Hildur Eva a salamander ...yesterday it was a dog and cat respectively.

Here's a photo of this morning's sunrise

Have a great day everyone!

The third troll is Stfur (Stoof-ur). Stfur (Shortie) is a bit sensitive about his height and does not like to be teased about it... which his brothers can't really resist (they're not that reformed ;-) lol) He is found lurking in the kitchen on the lookout for frying pans with leftovers to scrape off.

Happy Birthday, kiska!!! I hope you're having a wonderful day. ^_^

It's going to be warm again today. The bunnies and I went to the zoo yesterday morning and we kept taking our jackets off and putting them on again and taking them off and... The air was warm, but the wind was a bit nippy, so we were warm or not, depending on what building were around us. The zoo was fun, though. :-) I forgot my camera, which is too bad. We saw the fruit bats being fed, and later some pelicans, too. Since it was fairly cool (for Houston) out, a lot of the animals were up and about - even the big cats which seem to spend the summer (at least the days when we are at the zoo!) sleeping in some hard-to-see corner - not that I blame them. Today the tigers and jaguars were up and walking around, and the lions were right next to the glass. The poor apes from Borneo and Sumatra were all huddled together, though. I'm pretty sure they would rather it was hot. LOL

Kiska HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Hope the temps come up a bit!

Sharon there's a Rat climbing on you!!! YIKES! LOL!
Pretty Pup!

We went to a drive thru Holiday Lights deal last night w/ our neighbors.
The county throws one at a local park and it is a beautiful wooded site.
We had heard marvelous things about it.
Well 3 miles of backed up traffic AFTER we entered the park we got to the display.
Paid the fee (WAY too much) and then were told to turn our lights out and drive thru.
We did... the people behind us didn't... errrr... we finally yelled at them to dim the lights.
4 girls too busy talking... TOTALLY ignored... so we let them pass... w/ a few choice words LOL!
THEN as we entered a light tunnel... REAL cool!... traffic again stopped.
Somehow there was a wreck ...at 3 MPH!...
AND they decided to get out and do the insurance thing... idiots!
luckily an off duty cop was behind them and got them to move on...
So we then proceded to finish the display.
Real pretty!
WAY too expensive!
2 hours wasted plus the gas...
NOT on our list of things ever to do again! LOL!

45 (Wind Chill 39) going to the low 50's and we are under a Wind Advisory AGAIN!

the national weather service in wilmington has issued a wind
advisory...which is in effect from noon today to midnight tonight.

winds will increase to 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph this
afternoon...as a strong low pressure system moves across the
western great lakes. the winds will decrease some overnight...but
will remain breezy through monday as a strong cold front moves
across the area.

Well there can't be much left to blow down here after the Hurricane smacked us so I'm guessing this will just be a good blowing of the downed leaves.
But we may see our lights in others yards...LOL!
We'll see!

Well w/ a current temp of 57 wind chill is not a factor.
In fact wind isn't either... the Advisory was cancelled... maybe we need a Breeze Advisory?
Quite nice out now.
By tomorrow afternoon is should be 37 ... then back to near 60 by Thursday...

Cumulus NICE Ice Ferns!

Looks very festive there Kelli!

Rann I don't think those two can take a bad picture.
Quite Lovely!

LOVE the dinos!
We were underwater here then.
But we do have some nice Ice Age fossils around the area.
And TONS of corals!

I snagged these cabs at work.
They were trash bound.
A little paint and...

That is great, Ric! Almost finished!

Rusty, I may have to add that Iris to my collection. Thanks for showing it. And your Peony is so vivid.

Deb, it was kind of scary for a moment but we straightened out and kept on keepin' on! LOL Love your Cardinal!

Rann, your girls look adorable! I'm glad they liked the dinos. I have a ton more I need to add to my computer files. When I do, I'll share the best ones.

Sharon, what can I say? There are only 5 cute Chichihuahuas in the world and Peanut is one! I love her little spotty head!

Kelli, Pretty lights. So many colors!

Cumulus, I like those "blooms", too!

It's 25 and Darrell is back at the hospital.

It was a beautiful day. Darrell slept in because we were up until 3am. After he got up, we had our coffee, made some phone calls, had lunch and did our Xmas shopping. Only gift cards this year. Too much else going on. A hard decision may be coming...whether or not MIL will be going home, another hospital or a care center. Here we go again.

Sunset today.

Rusty56, I am quite surprised that MO gets the cold temperatures. I have always ( erroneously) thought it to be warmer in the winter. Please keep posting your painting projects. They ar really neat.
Kwajin, enjoyed the dinosaurs!

We had a sunny day today - for a change. Temps up to 40 degrees!!! Supposed to warm up this week .

Ric, you are a marvel! We have all enjoyed your efforts on the addition. I just love people who can do things for themselves. I guess because that is the way we have always done things.
Temps will moderate for three days, then back to winter. LOL

We don't bother putting our summer stuff away either, Sharon. Yesterday it was in the mid 70s... This morning it's 63, but there's another chilly front coming through and it will be in the mid 40s by the time Charles gets home.

Sweet Pea/Peanut is SOOOO cute, Sharon! ^_^

Wow, Rocco... a 50 drop in one day is crazy!! Welcome to our thread. :-)

Hi, Bernie! I hope you didn't have anywhere to go last night. Brrrr...

Rusty, brrr to you, too!

Ric, you and Robyn are doing such a great job. :-)

Celia, those photos are beautiful! We'll be praying for wisdom for you both, and good advice from the doctors about your MIL. The dinosaur photos were really neat... I started to show them to the big bunny, but she was distracted by Sweet Pea/Peanut. I'll try again later. LOL

Deb, pretty cardinal. :-)

Pepper - yuck to the ice. When I lived in Central Ohio, we got tons of ice, and it was awful. I'd much rather have a foot or 3 of snow then an inch or 3 of ice. Putting bags over the mirrors was a great idea!!

Rann, the girls are beautiful in red!

Kelli - wow! It's actually cold there! ^_^

Cumulus, that was a gorgeous frost photo!! I would love to hear more about Belgium. :-)

Marylyn, don't worry about the bunnies picking puppies over dinos. I'd probably pick puppies first, too!

Bernie, -8? It hasn't been that cold in some time here. My DB called this morning and asked for me to look up some temps for him. He drives semi and is going to be in Idaho Falls later today then going to Bozeman, Montana. It's -13 in Bozeman this morning! Brrr!

Still having fun with the trolls! LOL

Sharon and all, thanks for the well-wishes with MIL. I'm thinking the decision is going to be made that she will be going to a care center. He ER Dr. said she CANNOT be left alone anymore. She's talking to people but is still a bit incoherent.

I'm not sure how far behind I am, but it's far enough.

Marsue, I hope you had a wonderful birthday.

Welcome Rocco!

Glad to see you CountryGardens!

Rusty, you're up early!

Sharon, ooh ooh, new word! Kiska cold! Sweet Pea is adorable!!!

Country, that is cold!

Rann, I hope Selma shakes it off too. It should be too cold for germs! I notepadded all your Christmas stories last year so I don't have to back track to find those I missed. All I need are jammies and something hot to drink. I enjoy hearing about the presents the girls open. Ahh, the excitement of the young!

Kiska, I hope you are having a wonderful birthday too!

Kwanjin, new toys are entertaining for us too! They are so funny!

Kelli, may it rain more !! Pretty hummer.

We got up at 5:30 am and it was 6*. I feel that is Kiska cold! They said the wind chill was way below 0, and yes it was! I put a scarf over my face to take the garbage out, mail letters and put the bird feeders out for the finches. It's now 11* and the garbage man is pretty late. I hope he gets here soon!

Having trouble with my computer again--guess I need to delete some cookies or something. I keep forgetting to do that. It's hard for me to scroll up and down so I'm sorry if I 'm missing something.
Kelli: pretty hummingbird
Sharon: I know I've missed something with you but can't scroll up to find out what. I'll catch you next time around and the rest of you, too!
Oh, Marylyn, I hope your parents made it to your house okay. I know you will enjoy having them with you for the holidays. :o))

It's cold here with a wintry mix of rain and sleet. Supposed to get worse as the evening goes on. :o(( BRRR! Currently 27F.

I had a busy week-end--had a wedding to attend--it was practically an all day affair but it was a lovely wedding, a great reception and yummy food! Plus I met up with some old friends from 20 or more years ago--it was fun! My granddaughter was Maid of Honor in the wedding--it was her mom getting married so now my DGD has a new and wonderful step-dad. :o)) This is my granddaughter, Samantha. She is 15.

Kiska Justin thinks hes 31he isnt. Hes only 16 LOL! Hes absolutely huge though. 61, 230 lbs, his shoulders measure 53, he wears a 13 shoe. I can only imagine what he is going to look like when he goes through Marine boot camp and leans out. The thing is, he isnt fat, he does have some extra weight on him, but hes very broad, reminds me of my uncle who was a linebacker.

LOL at Monty.

Yayyy! for the rain, Kelli! The hummer photo is wonderful. :-)

Deb, if it's any consolation, our weather should be getting to you in a day or two. Do you want me to apologize now, or wait until then?

Gee, Sharon, aren't you afraid the new "baby" will eat you out of house and home? LOL What does Prissy think of her new companion?

Bernie and Rocco, I just thought it was cold here! We are currently at 24--real toasty! When it gets light outside, I'll take a picture of our "wintry mix" that we got overnight.

Celia: Samantha's hair is naturally that color--amazing, huh? Her mother(not my daughter--the blonde hair didn't come from me) still has blonde hair and she is in her mid-30's. P.S. I need to take some relaxation lessons from Monty! LOL

Marylyn--guess I got a little mixed up on the timetable of when your parents are due to arrive. :o)) I know you will enjoy them whenever they get there.

Our schools are closed today due to ice on the roads. That means that Samantha, who is staying with me while the newlyweds honeymoon, will be monopolizing my computer so I have to take advantage of it while she is still sleeping! LOL

Warming up here, only -4 this morning.

Installing a kitchen in a major remodel house today. Started yesterday & found we had the refrigerator cabinet to deep. Spend a few minutes last evening cutting it down. I will have pics tomorrow.
This pic is one we finished last week. We custom build these cabinets. Start with bare wood, end up with this.

Celia, is Monty taking the class or teaching it? LOL

My parents come down for Christmas almost every year, and we're always glad to see them. :-) We put up the tree last night, but haven't finished decorating it yet. I think the box of ornaments is in the attic... The bunnies were having a great time displaying an assortment of their stuffed animal friends on the branches. LOL I'm sure the selection of friends will change as different ones are required in other parts of the house. I'll take a photo later.

As expected, it's quite chilly out there!

Good afternoon!

It's cloudy, snow flurries now and then, 33F ... which judging from what many of you are having is positively toasty! lol

Selma's still sick, she threw up again this morning ... darn I thought that was over with ... I haven't been feeling very well, just hope it won't get worse. I really don't have time for this now. I need to learn those relaxation methods of Monty's!! lol

Sharon - Sweet Pea is just too cute! Can't get enough of her :-)

Welcome to Rocco and Bernie!

Bernie -those cabinets look great! I need new ones ;-) lol

Marsue - your GD is very pretty - she looks great in that dress :-)

Nr. 5 continued the Pet shop trend ... he brought a mouse and a guinea pig. The girls can't get enough of those pets ;-) lol

Nr. 5 is Pottaskefill (Pott-(o=on) a-(a-apple) skef (e=end), idl (i=in)), yet another kitchen lurker. He has a different system from the others though. He knocks on the door. When he hears the pitter patter of little feet running to the door he swoops down the chimney or through the kitchen window to find a pot with leftovers to clean out. Then he's gone before anyone notices he was there, very slick ;-) lol.

Sharon: your rose is lovely.

We have earthquakes fairly often, but they are usually barely
noticeable. We have ones like today a couple of times a year, I'd say. Rarely does any more
than a crack in the plaster. All that happened here was some stuff fell off a shelf. Our town sits on a fault line, but there hasn't been a "serious" quake for about 100 years.

It was a beautiful day today. Sunny and 75F!
