We just lost a huge old elm. Living out in the country, our old elms did not fall when so many city trees died of Dutch elm. We had two huge trees that lined our drive. During the last storm one went down (thankfully not towards the house) and had to be totally removed. It IS sad to loose that history of the homestead and the beautiful shape and shade. Seems like we've had lots of ice these last few winters. Thanks for the great article.
