cannagirl - I've purchased gourds on ebay at pretty decent prices. I've heard people say http://www.amishgourds.com/ is a good place to get gourds as well.

Thank you Syrumani...I'll check out the web site & ebay. This past summer I grew luffa gourds and I'm now addicted :) to growing gourds.

Enjoy painting and seen all those beautiful crafts everyone has created from gourds so thought I'd give it a try.

I grew some luffa, too . . . they didn't do as well as I had hoped, but then, I was growing them in a pot . . . will try again!

You may find some at a local flea market, too . . . I saw a luffa sponge that was huge! It was peeled and seeds removed, that was it . . . they had the hard shell gourds, too . . .

I have gotten my best gourds from { foothillsfarm.com }.
You can see what they have and then call to purchase.
You won't be dissappointed.

Thanks for the offer, cannagirl. I did save some seeds from what I grew . . . but I'm thinking that maybe I should get diffefferent seed stock . . . I've gotten fairly small sponges for the past 2 years. I'll dmail you!

Oh, Jan . . . I like that site!

They are really great shippers too. I order three Giant Bushels and They were packed in enormouse boxes so that they wouldn't get damaged. Nice folks too if you talk to them.
Glad to have been of assistance. Please mention my name if you order from them.

This is one of the giant bushels that I got from them. I am working on this project right now. If you should mention my name just say its the lady from Tombstone Arizona. That was the last time I purchased from them.

Myself, I LOVE Wellburn Gourd Farm (Fallbrook, CA.) for all my seed AND gourd crafting needs... I've thought about buying some of their craft-ready gourds, too, but, since I grow my own, it'll be on a whim more than anything else when I do... ;-)
They just recently had a "bargain box" of gourds, actually a "Dollar Gourd Sale", with uncleaned gourds under 8" in diameter ojust $1 and all uncleaned gourds 8" and over are just $2! That's a savings of almost 70%! (Cleaned gourds are just 50 cents more for under 8" and $1 more for 8" and up.)
