    Many years since Ive been in Southern California and I had almost forgot the unique vegetation of that region.
    There was a Erythrina at the entrance to our classroom at San Diego State - what a beautiful and majestic tree! Especially with the red blooms against the blue sky.

    Do the aloe trees also bloom?

    And what about the California Live Oak?

    What an enjoyable article. Thank you.

    I had California Oak on my original list, but after looking beneath these trees and seeing the horrific mess they make, I left it off.

    Some do... there are dozens of Aloe trees, but the one in the article has orange flowers.
