    The kindness of good people never ceases to amaze me, it was so sweet of those boys to go searching for flowers for the little girls family, and a good explanation why such an unusual plant should be the State flower of Oklahoma.
    This plant also has a very special role in nature. It is the host plant for the Purple Hairstreak butterfly, this plant is the only food they eat. This is a beautiful butterfly that you can't see very often because it flies fast and always sits with the wings closed.

    And one with the wings open, unfortunately this poor baby is dead, but it shows the beautiful colors.

    That is a lovely, bittersweet story, Mitch, I enjoyed reading it. Mistletoe grows in northern CA, where I used to live, so maybe those beautiful butterflies live there, too, but it's been so long, I don't remember. Thanks for sharing that, Josephine!
