Goeff, thanks for your article on Strelitzia. As a small child, I remember my grandmother having one in her South facing bedroom window. It, too, intrigued me, but for the fact that she'd not let me touch it for fear, possibly, I'd pick the flowers. I thought of growing one myself but I've no space in the orchid room for one and the cats would have it destroyed in no time if I placed it in the South facing window of the living room, so I suppose it will be relegated to pictures. Thanks for a great article. I have 2 potted plants, I put outside in summer and bring in to my small GH for winter. One has bloomed for the last 2 winters.
I am always watching for a bloom. I also am running out of space, but havent been able to get rid of them.
