What a great overview of Community Gardens. I too am an avid community gardener and formerly worked with the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in the program GreenBridge which related to many community gardens in Brooklyn. We also wrote a handbook Community Gardens (available from http://www.bbg.org) which profiles a multitude of community gardens in the USA and Canada. I'm also very glad that Tamara mentioned ACGA which is really the leading organization for community gardens in the US and Canada. They have an elist where you can get info from many different gardeners. You can access it by going to the ACGA website at http://www.communitygarden.org ...thanks again Tamara for your wonderful "how to" list. Here's a photo of a rain barrel building project where members of several community gardens helped each other for the project. Ellen Kirby, Winston-Salem, NC
The area I am currently living in is looking at starting a community garden. I am looking forward to meeting with the people in charge. It will be challenging, fun, and I can get hours in for my leadership program :)
