I want to remove the cabinet style sink and put in a pedestal in my 1/2 bath and am unsure what I need to "match up" to make sure we can do the conversion. It seems like the shut off valves would be sticking out of the wall and be ugly and how do you know the drain pipes will match up?? Any advice would be helpful...
The drain lines for any bathroom sink are, by code, 1-1/4". You will want to install new chrome plated drain piping when you put in the new sink. The old shut offs can also be replaced with new chrome valves and supply piping to give the sink a more finished appearance since the plumbing will be exposed. The same places that sell the sinks should have all of the parts for you to make the connections.
