I heard that!!!! hehehe So its not that secret anymore. :)
I sure would love to go. I have never been to a show.
I talked with Silkie about the show in Bath, NY. We may meet up there.
I wish I could meet up with you as well. :( That would be fun with a capital F
Looks like a good time.
I can't wait to go i know alot of the show folks and alot of BYCrs are going. I bet alot of the people i know who raise oegb will be there i hope i have time to buy some chickens between conversations and hugs.
Yes i will take pics and bring them here to show everyone any request on breeds??
I will definately buy something i never go and say oh i'm not buying anything cause i know i will LOL
I just wish all of you could be there i would love to meet all of you♥
Harm: BYC ARGH ARGH. I used to or rather still am a member of that forum, but honestly, I left that forum thanks to TF and some of the constant stupidity that had no real value at all. This forum and the people on this forum are for real and very helpful. I love a good laugh as well as anybody but honestly never felt welcome on BYC. Sorry Harm but I felt it was a total feminist forum. Oh I'm ranting sorry. It seems like all the good poultry shows are in the midwest, eastcoast, or down South. Whats wrong with this picture. I guess out west we suck. sobs sobs : ( I so would love to meet you guys WHAT A BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!! Harm pleeeez pic's lots of pic's. Have fun and pretend I'm there. Haystack
I'm sure i will make time for that and my friends too and of course pics. I hope they have lunch this may take all day LOL i can just hear my DH come on you been talking to long and do you have to take pics of all the chickens.
My DH gets totaly lost in my chicken head world and he will say but you already got 40 chickens at home. LOL
You know him well. So make up all your resonses now and write them down. Then you can just hand him the response cards while you talk and snap away! hehehe
At least he goes with you. My DH would rather have a root canal. He likes the chickens but he does not like crowds.
He don't mind he talks to alot of the chicken folks about huntin and fishin. I just hope one of our january toad freezers don't come thru on that day. I hope it's at least warm enough so we don't have to bundle up.
I looked at the one they had last year and it talked about how cold it was. Well cold or not i'm still going done got my heart set on it.
Harmonyplace, I am planning to visit the show. I'm not a regular here in the Poultry forum although I read most posts because I would LOVE to have some chickens--heck, I'd like to have a couple finches! But I have indoor cats--you know how THAT would be! I've been to some chicken shows in the past but many years ago--the Tennessee Valley Fair in Knoxville had chicken shows every year and we visited when I was a child. Didn't have a CLUE what was going on, but I like it--had rabbit shows too.
Anyway, I am planning to attend. Plus I am planning the Chicks in the City class at Oakhurst Community Garden Center with Walter Reeves.
LOL! Ok--just look for the lady with the 'deer in the headlights' look--I am sure I'll be astounded at the different varieties of chickens! It will be interesting--I show cats--so I'm wondering if the chicken peeps folks are as...uhm, well...let's just say "diverse".
Are you kidding everybody in the show thinks their birds are the best. Blood lines are guarded like they are the crown jewels.
In the old english show bird breeders the ones who win are very known and admired.
I don't show because the competition is just wild and everyone is trying to get a better or new bird somebody else has never seen.
I know the man that started the blue wheaton craze a few years back him and another man were the only 2 who owned this breed.
Now everybody can have a blue wheaton because somebody figured out how to breed them.
I just love my bantys and they aren't close to being show quality but to me they are winners in my heart.
I'm excited! Will be great to see all the chickens! I'd love to have a small flock--mainly just because I love chickens--but my neighborhood is already becoming too crowded and more like a circus--not conducive to owning chickens, I'm afraid. But maybe someday--and that's why I am learning as much as I can. Wouldn't ever likely show them either--been there, done that--with cats and horses. I've discovered that all exhibition sports are crazy and very competitive. Lots of cheating going on as well--subjective judges--but still a way of life that I love.
My friend shows and he said to me last time i saw him his chicken always places second. He said he don't see how the judges can even pick one as he put it "When theres 100 white hens in the same row and they all look about the same" LOL
I have been given a pair of Bantams. They have feathers on their feet. My friend has 2 pair. She is keeping the brown ones and she is giving me the ones that are black and yellow. I still have to pick them up. When I was there today I was on my way to the farm to fix fence.
Well looks like it's going to be real cold for the show. Better get out my insulated drawers and my big coat it would have to snow 10ft for me not to go.
Wait maybe i could rent a snowmobile i bet i could make it there if i left at 2 in the morning LOL
Thank You for thinking of that i already have some of those i use them when we go to the auction.
I'm dressing real warm i know how it is to go somewhere and be cold. You are just miserable and want to leave i ain't leaveing till they run me off LOL
