I first heard of Linnaeus because he named the genus Camellia in honor of the work done by the Jesuit missionary and botanist Georg Joseph Kamel. The best tree in my backyard near Memphis TN is a mature Camellia. I started a new 1 gallon size, Kramer's Red Supreme, Camellius japonica specimen last week.

That reminds me of some plant or another with one name being Caesalpinia- now I bet I know who that's in honor of.
Interesting!
