Jill, Perfect timing on your article. It's going down to 8 degrees tonight...with wind chills who knows how cold it might feel. I have a couple of turnips, some carrots, leeks, diakon and one very large potato, oh and some potted herbs. I'm headed for the kitchen right now. Let the soup simmer. Pam

Yes, I agree. Leeks add a wonderful onion flavor to soups & stews. I some times add croutons to some of my hearty soups, like French Onion. When eating a wonderfully delicious stew I like to have warm garlic bread as a side dish. Nothing is better on a cold & blustery night than a hearty bowl of stew to take the chill out of the air & these ol' bones.
