My kitchen cabinet hardware/hinges were custom made...no idea why... from previous owner. Anyway, the hinges cannot be purchased...they are gold...I would like to change them to bronze or black. Can I paint my cabinet hinges and pulls? If so...how do I paint them and what should I use?
Thank you!!

Darn, I wish someone had given you an answer! I'd like to paint my regular room door hinges and I could use some advice.
I have a wall sconce that I really liked, but it was in 80's shiny brass (shudder). I ragged on some black paint and some copper luster over the brass, and it looks ever so much better. I doubt the same treatment would work for something that gets a lot of physical contact, though.

You can definitely spray paint the pulls. For the hinges I'm not sure if it might gum them up a bit but it might work for them too--spray paint goes on in a pretty thin layer so it would definitely be less likely to gum things up than regular paint would (plus it'll stick to the metal better)

I'd like to darken a brass mirror frame. Any suggestions on what kind of paint to use? Is there such a thing as a bronze metallic paint?
Thanks.

There's pretty much every color of metallic paint that you could possibly want--I'd head over to your local Home Depot or hardware store and check out the spray paint aisle. Just make sure you read the label to make sure the one you get will work on whatever type of surface it is (metal, plastic, etc).
